One hour ago a Jacksonville based naval pilot flew low and noisily over my property and not knowing the source, I complained vehemently to my husband who responded:
“What’s wrong with you? These are people who are defending our country.”
I now feel ‘lower than a snake’ for that remark. ):
Alas, one day you may be glad to hear that sound. I sure know I can attest to the comfort they bring knowing “they got your back, 24/7.

Exactly the point of my post! I thought Tallahassee was the military site of my state so I truly claim ignorance about my new digs in Amelia Island.
I also had complaints about the shotguns firing off in the distance of my home (3 miles). After some investigation, turns out Amelia Island, FL is the home of a branch of the NRA! I marched over there to complain and frankly, felt like an a-s-s for doing so.
Live and learn. π

It surprises me that you even noticed π I grew up a few miles from an Air Force Base-I don’t even notice when most planes fly over head. My home now is also just a few miles away from that base, and planes overhead is totally normal. Planes flying low and loud overhead is totally normal, lol, it would never occur to me to even notice. π
Those supersonic type jets are different, though. I am talking about Top Gun type stuff-those things come out of nowhere and they are so fast and very very loud. When they were flying in Scotland, some of the poor sheep were dying of fright-seriously-and it was a real problem. Those things really can be very disconcerting if you aren’t expecting them. But, being a little bit disconcerted is a very small price to pay for freedom-especially compared with what others have gone through. God Bless America!

Jax; apparently, I live in Top Gun country as well but I didn’t know it. I’m far happier to listen to that than my SW FL neighbors’ incessant lawn blowers!!!

Top Gun country is no joke! I have only witnessed a Top Gun flight once from the ground, and it was pretty intense. I think you can be forgiven for not knowing how to deal your first time around π

I’ve read an awful lot about THE Top Gun Chuck Yeager so I do know they risk their lives during practice runs let alone a full blown battle.
My point was about the noise because I was not made aware of its source initially.

I get it! I about disintegrated when a Top Gun flight came out of nowhere during a trip to Scotland. They really are very disconcerting if you are not expecting them π

That, Miss Liz, is the sound of freedom. Enjoy it while it lasts.

I get it; I initially assumed it was a commercial flight from JAX INTL airport and that set me off.

They are supposed to get out over deep blue water before going ‘full acrobatic.’
My guess is these guys were flying those birds home after a 6-month ‘pump.’

I drafted the order that sent US Marine fighter jets screaming at tree top level on a flight over Gitmo, Cuba shortly after the installment of the first batch of muslim assholes from Afghanistan.
Don’t believe me? Read the order to see my name.

I recommended the same for Benghazi and was told to sit down and color by “higher.”
Am still waiting for Commander-in-Chief Omega’s response to request to begin show of force operations over our CIA facility in Benghazi.
Tick foxtrotting Tock krap
