The only thing between US citizens and that sort of tyranny are a few governors with courage — like Governor DeSantis of Florida. The rest of the world appears to be marching in lockstep.

Agreed. The importance of local control is becoming more apparent all the time-and that is something that just doesn’t exist very much in Europe, from what I can tell.
I live in Western Massachusetts. In the city I live in and the one my mother lives in, masks are not required. In more leftist communities, they are. I was about 30 minutes up the road, and I felt like I was in another country-everybody was wearing a mask. Even in a place like Massachusetts, there are red areas and blue areas. The differences between red and blue areas is stark.
