Pats 16 Bills 10

This post is for Simon who previously mentioned he missed the NFL more than anything about the United States. Can’t blame him.

Just finished watching this game and ST needs to google. The Pats were thinking waay outside the box.

Wonder Coach Belichick sent his defensive coordinator into the locker room and took over the job himself. He left OC Josh McDaniels and Tom Terrific to run the offense.

Damn. The Bills have an enormous amount of talent but they do not have the system. I am always amazed at the intelligence of owner Robert Kraft, his coaching staff and the players who can understand the Xs and Os.

I love this game!

      1. Speaking of which, is Christian McCaffrey underated, overatted, or judged about right by most fans?

I just saw a highlight real and liked the last catch on the clip. Let me see if I can find it.

    1. It’s a long story about Tom Terrific. He was recruited for the Michigan Wolverines and got stuck behind Bob Griese’s son Brian and the most highly recruited QB in the country at that time, Drew Henson. He barely played and was drafted in the 6th round!

He has a chip on his shoulder and it has translated into greatness. He won’t sideline for the second string even if the Pats are up by 21 pts in the 4th quarter. Most coaches wouldn’t allow their prime player to risk unnecessary injury but nobody wants to argue with him!

      1. For his sake I hope that he will start benching himself when ‘the game is over.’ What a shame if “we” were lose him because of some stupid injury – particularly after the game is already decided.

  1. Because the Bills have an awesome offense and Belichick’s unique talent is defense. I personally think it was a trust issue.

It was a radical thing to do, indeed, but the Patriots care about one thing only- winning. As far as I’m concerned Belichick should teach a business course after retirement!

  2. P.S. I am sure that I can speak for all followers here and myself when I say, it is a joy to have you, ET, with us. It was terrible how you were treated at those other sites. Envy and resentment are power forces for evil.

    1. Many thanks. I simply think there are personality and background issues that create acrimony. I’ve developed some wonderful friends throughout it all: ST, MLR, and Hypatia so all is well!

      1. I have no idea what you two are talking about when it comes to football, but just want to register my shared enthusiasm with Simon about you being here, ET: it is awesome that you have joined us đŸ™‚

    2. True dat…Anyone who can do posts & comments re: DJT, Tom Brady, Lou Reed, and Huey Lewis – not to mention “Harold & Maude” – is truly 4-stars.

  3. Speaking of wasted talent, “Johnny Football” and his big ego have both burned out too soon. Too bad he did not have any adults in his life to jerk some sense into him. I know this is not the point of this thread so please feel free to ignore this comment. Am just thinking out loud.

  4. I regard threads as a good dinner conversation… let them wander wherever the guests care to go!

I was worried about JF from the beginning because I thought he didn’t have the physicality required for the game but this is just a random observation.

I love the NHL as well so I’m somewhat distracted. đŸ™‚

  5. I truly love Sidney; I miss Marc-Andre Fleury’s smile/sense of fun, too; my nieces and I will peek at Vegas games occasionally, just to see “Flower”…We mourn the trade of Phil Kessel. (I’ve gained all this by osmosis. -grin-)

    1. How could you, Nanda? I was counting on you to keep me company in being totally clueless about football đŸ™‚ But now it turns out that you know at least something about it? How could you do this to me? đŸ™‚

      1. Trust me Judith, if you’d been born to my father you wouldn’t have had a choice but to be knowledgeable. He played collegiate hockey at Michigan which although an academically challenging school, is unusual for its enthusiasm about sports- hockey and football in particular. I spent every Saturday afternoon in the Big House during football season sitting next to my father, the ultimate football technocrat who enjoyed yelling out instructions to the offensive linemen! Big booster as well and we entertained high school recruits consistently in our home; as a teenager, I was most enthusiastic about these dinner parties. đŸ™‚
