The Single Most Destructive Slogan in Recent Memory

I am attempting to reblog this onto ST Unleashed! Much love RushBabe.

Some time back in the 1960’s, the radical feminists came out with this slogan: A Woman Without a Man is Like a Fish Without a Bicycle. Their viewpoint then, and now, is that woman do not need men in their lives (except maybe for sexual pleasure). The implication is that a woman can, and most importantly, should, never rely on any man to help them achieve their goals and desires in life. They should rely mostly on themselves, then on other women, and then the Government to achieve their life goals. This viewpoint has had untold deleterious consequences for our culture, and our country.
The most far-reaching and destructive effect has been the disintegration of the nuclear family (a married, heterosexual couple raising their own biological children). With the invention of the birth-control pill, and the legalization of abortion pretty much on demand, women could “sow their wild…

  1. “When an entire sex is looked down upon by the other sex, can you blame them for taking it to heart?”

Thank you, Rushbabe, for putting it so succinctly. Western men deserve so much better than the treatment they receive from feminists.

  2. “…women could “sow their wild oats” just like men, with no thought for any consequences.”

Anybody want to talk about this? I am not so sure that men and women ‘think’ the same about carnal knowledge.

    1. Last time I checked (which was a while ago), women in different areas of the U.S. are vastly different in this respect. For instance, last time I checked, (a couple of years ago), the average American woman had 2 or 3 sexual partners in her lifetime; women in Manhattan, on the other hand, averaged 30 sexual partners in their lifetimes. And last time I checked, there are more babies aborted in NYC than born.

I would think that a woman’s position on abortion would have an effect on behavior: from what I have observed, it definitely does. Pro-life women often don’t wait until marriage, but from what I have observed, and from what statistics like the ones just stated show, they are more selective about who they sleep with, and they sleep with far fewer men in their lifetimes.

The pill is a bad thing: it shouldn’t be illegal, but it ought to be viewed the same as cigarette smoking: unhealthy.

      1. Yep, about the pill. At least I would say that but white men are no longer allowed to have opinions on any matter whatsoever, so I won’t say a word while I watch it all burn down.

I don’t believe that women experience lust the same way men do: promiscuous women usually aren’t giving into lust, or love. They are just trying to be more like men, because they hate themselves. Very self destructive.

  4. “A Woman Without a Man is Like a Fish Without a Bicycle.”

As a young woman with some semblance of respect for NOW back then, even I had to laugh at this one. In fact, it concerned me because I began to see that remarks like this hurt the cause and compromised the validity of some very important goals.

True story: When I first moved to NYC after college, I got tickets to hear Steinem speak at the Hilton and my parents were visiting then. I only had one extra ticket so I took my dad.

After her speech she was signing her new book and my father bustled right through the crowd to say, “You’ve done a lot to change attitudes and because of that my daughter’s future is a lot brighter. Thank you.”

She beamed and I often think why-oh-why couldn’t NOW have been satisfied with this remarkable accomplishment? Things have become acrimonious, hostile and men don’t care to date anymore let alone marry!

  5. “Things have become acrimonious, hostile and men don’t care to date anymore let alone marry!”

Many interesting, handsome, and well off American males, even given the option, refuse to date American women because the juice ain’t worth the squeeze. Things were not always such. What has changed? Hmm – thinking.

      1. This is why more of us need to speak out, and loudly! The feminazis are giving all of us a bad name, and when we remain silent, it looks like we agree with them.

  6. This is something that bugs me: many conservatives say that the feminists way back when were necessary, but modern feminism wasn’t. I dislike all feminists, including the founding suffragettes: it isn’t about the agenda of the suffragettes, I dislike the attitude they took. In an incredible act of sacrifice and generosity, American men gave American women the right to vote. I am not aware of the suffragettes ever thanking American men for that: instead, they glorified themselves and acted as though they had defeated men and won some great victory. In reality, they asked men for something and men gave them what they asked for. And they never said thank you. That bugs me.

Obviously, some reforms were necessary-though much of what feminism has done was not necessary, but either way, the attitude of feminists has been obnoxious since day one.

Are you still a member of L!? Drop this comment on that right of center vanity blog-site and see how long it takes them to rip you apart.

P.S. Why do so-called conservatives spend so much time and effort in attacking the few original thinkers on their own team?

      1. Lol 🙂 I am no longer a member 🙂 I was suspended 2 or 3 times-can’t remember how many times, and then the environment became so hostile I just left.

      2. Or, it is possible they might have kicked me out? I was suspended so many times, it’s a blur, I don’t have total recall as to what happened, I just know that I am not there anymore 🙂

      3. On at least one occasion, yes, I asked a question about something having to do with you-I cannot for the life of me remember what the question was, but it was an innocent question. So I was surprised when they immediately suspended me without warning or explanation.

Anyway, it was totally worth it: I like being here infinitely more than being there 🙂

  7. It appears to me that some feminists actually believe they can do anything a man can do but better. When reality does not confirm their fundamental belief system, they believe the fault lies solely upon the weak and emasculated shoulders of the so-called Patriarchy.

  8. I support the American patriarchy! The Saudi Arabian patriarchy, No, but the American patriarchy has always been awesome, and American men deserve the total support of American women.

    1. JaC, do you know what the bedwetters on L1 & L2 are doing about this crisis other than burying their collective heads in the sand and/or trying to ‘keyboard’ it to death?

      1. They aren’t doing anything; it seems that some of the men who support feminism do so because they dont want to take responsibility; they think that feminism let’s them off the hook, and it does, until the shit hits the fan and we all die.

Ah, but, the psychological ‘complications’ are constantly on display, sadly.

Good question and I’ve been the victim of the “herd” mentality too many times. My opinion is that there is no such thing as a true individual.

    Ayn Rand was right.

Read MJB’s latest post on L2 about Chamberlain; I had an opposing argument.

  10. Thanks Jac and I was mainly referring to Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged. Fountainhead impressed me so much in high school, it shaped my politics forever. 🙂

  11. Thanks, Miss Lizzy, for the clarificatioon.

I have only read Atlas Shrugged. It was a bit of a hard slog for me to tell you the truth.

    1. That book is somewhat of a nightmare! Start with Howard Roark and Fountainhead as did I. I found Atlas tedious as well but felt compelled to finish it anyway because I think Ayn Rand gets it.
