This is a photo of Antonio Brown, a 9 year veteran wide receiver for the Steelers who was released for misconduct (didn’t like the NFL standard helmet and sent threatening tweets to women) but was a 7 time Pro Bowler. His stats clearly indicate he was one of the best WRs to ever play the game since Randy Moss who suffered a similar fate.
Read this and weep:
The Raiders picked him up for one month and then released him for unprofessional behavior but he was once again rescued by Belichick and Brady after Gronk retired. Brady was so thrilled to have one of the best receivers in the league, he put him up in his Boston digs until he got settled. Tom Terrific was quoted as saying ” I am one million per cent behind this addition to our team.”
Before he made it to his first practice at Gillette, Brown sent out more sexually violent tweets to a woman and apparently had a rape charge pending that his agent failed to inform Pats owner Robert Kraft about before signing.
He’s out of Foxboro and has lost a $9 million dollar one year contract. His football career at age 31 may be finished for good.
I still can’t understand such destructive behavior. Dissing the Pats? Really?
I know nothing about football, or football players, but this guy sounds like a classic prima dona, only worse. People who are as talented as he is often get away with things that mere mortals can’t get away with. Because of this, they may get worse over time.
I studied theater in college, at an open admissions program that lots of people wanted to be involved in: because of this, there was a great deal of competition to be cast in the plays. Anyone could take classes-it was open admission-but they were pretty selective about who they actually cast in productions. And there were a lot of talented people there, but our professors, who were awesome, had zero tolerance for prima donas: it didn’t matter how talented anyone was, everyone was expected to be be well behaved and totally professional all the time, and anyone who wasn’t was kicked out on their ear, and banned for life with no second chances. A couple of the most talented actors met this fate, and served as example for the rest of us.
The result was, every.single.actor. involved in that program was a joy to work with, and we all worked and cooperated in total peace and harmony. I didn’t fully appreciate this until I did a play outside of the program and came into direct contact with some prima donas who faced no consequences: OMG, I went home every night with a splitting head ache. And the thing about such people is, the more they get away with, the more they will try to get away with. It is almost as if they are saying “Look how talented I am, look at the bs people will tolerate from me, aren’t I special?” It is entirely possible that is what was going on with this football player.

I think you’ve pretty much nailed it.

It is hard for me to understand how someone would disrespect so much God given talent. I only read the headline not the article, but understand that he ‘dissed’ Patriot owner Mr. Kraft following his release from the Pats.
Mr. Brown’s actions indicate to me that he may not be a wholly righteous man.

I have to agree here because football players are the smartest athletes on the planet. He obviously isn’t stupid so it must be a complete irreverence for professionalism and responsibility and lack of respect for the fairer sex.
Sigh… Such a disappointment for rabid Pats fans who admire that franchise and its work ethic.

As well and as I tried to say in a previous comment, it is also a blatant disrespect for his God given talents that he had nothing to do with. For those of you who do not believe in a higher power, he has taken for granted and/ or betrayed the blessings passed on to him via his birth – both the when and where.
In addition and I know this one from my own life experiences, when one is on his 3d (intentional – US Marine style) or 4th strike that he begins to walk on egg shells. Mr. Brown also did seem to get the memo regarding that. Unlimited ego perhaps?

Hey there, Liz…Good to see you; and thanks for distilling this into a form someone who doesn’t follow the sportainment scene. Sad to see a meltdown like this – but, snowflakes will melt, sooner or later, won’t they?=

Hi Nanda! I’m certainly sorry about this snowflake indeed! He not only could have brought my beloved Pats to the SB, but he could have put himself into the Hall of Fame eventually.
I hate waste.

With you there; he certainly could have done the team, himself, and the community where he played, a great deal of good – had he been so inclined.

Maybe he and Kaepernick could start the “Umbraged Failure League”? It shouldn’t take them long to gain enough members to at least play intramural games with each other.
