      1. Forgive the vicarious nervousness above, hermano; am calm, and prayerful…As Isaiah :30:15 says: “For thus saith the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength[.]” ~KJV Vaya con Dios.

  1. means my spidey senses are pinging.
means local males are jealous of my life style.
means I feel that if I don’t ‘hide’ Imma gonna pay a heavy price (up to life) for being me.

      1. That comment of mine was too strong. Nobody is going to ‘off’ me. The problem here is that if push comes to shove, I will win that first fight. The locals will then come back in numbers and it will not go well for me. I just need to lay low for a while and after things cool off ‘hangout’ in different venues.

My last comment was over the top. I just mean that very bad things sometimes happen to foreigners here if they make the wrong people jealous.

  2. Some guys do not like it when a foreigner comes into to their community and dates a lot of the local talent. It is not difficult in this country for someone to pay the police to harass a foreigner. I have seen an unusual amount of police presence around my house lately. It concerns me.

A while ago I had a heated argument with my landlord. The next morning I saw a plain clothes cop walking around my block. I assume he was a cop because he was packing heat – open carry.

I have seen this movie before and it is time for me to move.

  3. Yep. Saw a couple of guys on a motorcycle with no taillight or headlight. It was pitch black and they were riding on the shoulder of the highway. I only saw them because the passenger was using a flashlight to look for potholes and black cows. Cars were (as usual) passing me going around turns and up hill. At least once I had to break hard when a string of cars passing a slow moving truck suddenly appeared in front of me as I was entering a curve.

I should write an OP about the duality of the Thai culture. The public face of the Thai people is very different from their behind the wheel of an automobile personality. There is an extreme passive-aggressiveness to them whenever they operate a motorized vehicle. I wonder if it is due to feelings of inadequacy in the manhood department?

  4. Strangely enough, I’m reminded of a Disney short called “Mr. Motorist” (50s, maybe?) detailing the same transformation happening to Goofy, when he got behind the wheel….Jekyll and Hyde, sort of. Very vivid; memorable even now….Yikes! (Your diagnosis is probably right on, ST.)
