One of the greatest one hit wonders ever. Love this line:
Woman with a sweet lovin’ better than a white line.
Had a college friend, “Dandy Don,” at the time this song came out who used to fly to Lima, Peru and smuggle pure cocaine in the soles and heels of his disco daze platform shoes. Those white lines gave most girls a run for their money, or so I am told.
The eternal debate about the lyrics on this song is are they singing?:
Save my life or Shave my wife, I’m going down for the last time.
Love this song, thank you đŸ™‚

I don’t often listen to Head East; but when I do, so do my neighbors!

I have heard this song a million times, and love it, but have never heard of Head East; I am bad that way, I know all kinds of songs, but have no idea who the musicians are. đŸ™‚

Howdy, ST! Fave song – as usual. Re: the lyric options, I opt for “Woman with a sweet lovin’ better than a white line.” ‘cuz the older of my two younger brothers blew out his stereo speakers with this song; I heard it a lot, at full volume. (I also choose it ‘cuz it’s true – the sweeter, the better, don’tcha know?)

The band was out of St. Louis, Missouri. They would have known that to “head east” meant to drive over the Mississipi River into Illinois to party or continue the party. Bars in Illinois served 18 year olds beer and wine but you allegedly had to be 21 to drink the hard stuff. They also stayed open until 4 A.M. so were great for after-parties. When I was a bartender in Cape Girardeau, we would head east all too frequently after we closed down.

Sounds like a sweet time of life, hermano; the soundtrack for those days was *the best* – especially for one who had to head-bang or ‘wiggle about meaningfully’ (as McCartney says) in my seat – rather than slow-dance. Thanks!

Where else would I encounter the exotic and well-travelled Hypatia, the entrepreneurial and sporting Liz, the silly and sensible JaC, and our saintly, sensational host all in one place – without agitation, aggression, or aggravation? Just the best…Chao for now, better call it a night; back for breakfast at the corner table. Peace…. Out.

Buenos dias y Buenas noches! DeNanda is in da house; short meeting this afternoon, but I’ll be around. P.S. Yet another great song!

You had a friend in college who smuggled cocaine, and you later became involved in the war on drugs. That is an interesting dichotomy.
