The Don at Davos

Did you watch Trump’s long presser this morning?
I thought, we’re seeing something better than a man recklessly confident that he’s going to prevail on impeachment. We’re seeing a supremely talented man, a man of tremendous means who, on one level, doesn’t really care!

Afraid Trump “won’t go away” if he loses 2020? Yuh, you bozos: be very very afraid. Cuz I don’t think he’ll go away, ever, until the Almighty summons him to the Celestial Golf Resort. I think this morning I was seeing a man who, with two (2) wildly successful careers already mastered, done and done! has found something he likes even more, something more worthy of his prodigious skills, finally something big enough for him:

his country’s service.

The demos, Dem or otherwise, can sometimes be stunningly unappreciative. I mean look at Churchill, somehow against all odds coaxing his flagging country to victory in WW II, only to be voted out of office. Yeah okay: thank you already!— and goodbye.

I don’t think Trump is overconfident about the impeachment trial. It may have taken him till now to believe that they would really try to get rid of a president whose accomplishments have been so numerous and so undeniably beneficial. But, seeing is believing. I think he has the measure of his opponents, their hatred and determination and (there’s no denying it) power. As he would say, “We’ll see what happens.”

After all, even four more years isn’t a very long time! I think he has thought beyond that already.

And I think, whatever does happen, Trump will continue, from whatever forum available, with his latest career: to keep America great. At least, I hope so.

Hail to the Chief!

  2. I do have an inkling that if the Don is dismissed from office, there will be a civil war. I think the Dems don’t realize they’re playing with fire.

As for Churchill’s defeat, although shockingly ungrateful, there were serious economic issues even before WWII and the Brits were tired and ready for hand-outs from Labor. Things are hopefully different here as the working class is beginning to benefit from Trumponomics.

    1. Elizabeth, I’m afraid maybe , um , nothing much WILL happen in the event the Dems succeed in the impeachment hoax. Who would ever have thought we would just….hardly even react when they impeached him? I’m afraid we keep thinking they can’t…really..pull this off, it’s so transparently hokey.

The time for us to do something, fill the National Mall with a sea of MAGA hats, is NOW. Now, before the Senate votes. Where are the GOP LInda Sarsours? I would go to DC to swell the ranks, and so would almost everyone I know up here in NEPA. Why doesn’t someone do something? Why doesn’t Kellyanne announce on Fox that she wants everyone to converge on DC tomorrow? Just ask, we’ll be there! But we need the invitation!

And yeah, good point about Churchill, Altho booting him didn’t help. England remained a dark, drear, deprived place for 40 years after WW II. Plus it had been in that state between the wars. Y’ever see the movie Sweeney Todd? The London pictured therein is exactly the way it was, . Now, of course, thanks to the global economic boom of the 90’s, it’s a theme park, like al major cities are, even Prague and Budapest. Spectacularly lit! Crowded with shops like benetton, Gucci, franchise restaurants like Starbucks.

You’d know, better than I do, what caused this global revival. In Eastern Europe, it was, of course, the return of capitalism after 1989. Maybe that was it, a global ripple effect, the end of the cold way. All i as a tourist ca;tell you in: the dirfference between the world pre 1989, and 5-10 years post 1989, was stunning. In a GOOD way!

    1. Ruh-roh. My husband has been audited several times because we are independent business owners and pay estimated taxes on a quarterly basis. There were no worries because we have a world-class acct but he charges $600/hour so once again, the govt costs me unnecessary expenses. At least I could write them off and the money went directly into the private sector.

      1. Besides the usual suspects and independent business owners such as yourselves, my personal experience with the IRS informs me that they also have a special place in their black hearts for guys who worked for Blackwater.

I did a post in the Mischief, The Mystery of the Elector’s Bones. (No no about the electoral college; about Martin Luther’s patron, The Elector Frederick III) and referred to Luther as the “ prickly priapic Protestant”.Nobody giggled not even the Rabid Roman Rattys…….
