I just commented, (at what the gents of the Mischief will probably consider unseemly length and unladylike tone) on a post about Ginn’s article setting forth actual facts about the Kung Flu. It’s not the only article pointing out the fact that this virus is not nearly as virulent as the drastic containment efforts .
And I’ve talked myself into a defiant, some might say reckless frame of mind.
“We the people” had better surge out, break out, en masse, right now, today, stop cowering in our houses and (even more ridiculously) our apartments. Recreate that famous scene in Times Square when WWII ended, hug and tongue-kiss complete strangers, as many as we fancy! Pound on the doors or restaurants and bars and demand they start preparing and serving up all that food they have on hand before it goes bad! We’re back, and we are hungry! For food, for booze, for company. For doing whatever the fuck we please, whenever we please!
If we don’t start exhibiting some real defiance soon, it will be too late. We’ll just be pet mammals scuttling around in our cages, exhibited for the pleasure of the few, omnipotent members of the global autocracy, subject to experimentation, to punishment and reward, at its whim.
America! Get up! And get OUT there! If WE don’t/can’t show defiance,
who in the world will?
Oh and BTW: as with any revolution, the action of the Army, th military, will be critical to its success. Will they turn their weapons on the civilians? Or will they join us?

Oh my goodness….life isn’t a movie. What you just described will never happen.

Do you mean the defiance? Or do you mean the drastic curtailment of our liberties? Because the latter has ALREADY happened. Where do you live?

I can barely do a thing now: I’d rather go thru Hurricane Katrina than this.
The governor of Florida just forced all restaurants to close and I hear no info whatsoever on what we’re doing to do to develop a vaccine.

Thanks much for this link Nanda. I read it right before I rcvd numerous phone calls from doctors’ offices cancelling appts because our governor has now closed restaurants and doctor care including Mayo Clinic.
I have a small basal cell carcinoma that needs to be removed and a root canal and crown scheduled that were just cancelled. My radiologist doesn’t want to leave his home so my annual mammogram is cancelled also.
If the Chinese want to kill us all, this is a clever and effective method of doing so. To hell with the restaurants and stores, but we have to fix the medical issues ASAP.

Fix the availability of medical supplies and related safety-gear, so folks can get routine treatments done, yes?

Most likely no one. Truly the world hates us but at the same time looks to us to be ‘pathfinders,’ always leading the way.

Of course you’re right ST, but once -just once – could somebody figure it out rather than us? How about the mongrels who caused this in the first place? You broke it; you damn well fix it.

Oh I have no doubt they WILL,cep’n with them on top instead of us…

That would seem to be the endgame of this cruel charade.

This is what happens to the average American man’s spine after he has turned over your nation’s defense to the Scots-Americans for a few generations.
The young still got some brass it would seem. Maybe they inherited it from gramps?

Simon, Re Scots-Americans, are you talking about the Webb book? I know I read something a few years ago which explained the prevalence of Scotch folk, especially from the “border clans”, in American leadership. I also read a great book called Steel Bonnets. Braw laddies!

I come from a long line of Scotch-Irish rough ‘n tumble immigrants from my paternal father. They settled in Tennessee and the family came a long way from their humble beginnings. My father’s eldest brother (and favorite uncle) lives across the street from the governor’s mansion in Nashville and owns a thriving business and a whole lot of real estate. His father (my grandfather) barely survived the Depression but he sent four children to Michigan and one to MIT.
We’re a tough breed indeed, Hyp. We don’t quit. Call me xenophobic and it wouldn’t be too far from the truth.

I know! They came here when James I cleaned up the Border, and after Culloden. I would recommend to you George MacDonald Fraser’s “Steel Bonnets”…

Thank you for this and making me ever more further behind in my reading.

The only book I have read by James Webb is ‘Fields of Fire’ and I would recommend it to anybody interested in war from the grunts’ perspective. I am, on the other hand, grateful that Webb did the formal research and wrote a book on the same subject my father and paternal grandfather already knew and taught my brothers and me about what it means to be a freeborn man. In other words, my comment was based on my very own life’s experiences and observations.

As all “Outlander” fans know, many Scots came here in the 17th century, to the southern states ( the Dutch were in control in NY, the Quakers ‘n’ Puritans in Philadelphia and. Boston) The last charge of the Highlanders took place in our South, during the American Revolution. And they were fighting on the English side.
Y’know, looking at our names here, it occurs to me that Simon and all the Simonettes are of that stock…well, idk Judy’s maiden name, but she at least married into it! No wonder we are all so tough, so sweet: have you ever heard the SteeleyeSpan song “Isabel”, about Robert the Bruce:
“He’s bold as a ram, he’s gentle as a lamb! / Only Scotland could raise such a man!..”

Scottish people, wherever they are, are truly amazing 🙂 I say that as someone of Irish ancestry 🙂

Well, it’s pretty much the same stock. The Gaels came to Scotland from Ireland.

Hypatia, who performed it? I searched for “Isabel” on you tube, but it brought up a bunch of different stuff, and I am not sure exactly what you are looking for
