Brilliant

The Don has just announced that he is leaving the choice to open up the economy to individual governors “who know the health status of their constituents far better than the federal government.”

Not only is this a sensible observation but the political ramifications are stunning.

Imagine this: Individual executives must now take personal responsibility for handling a major crisis affecting their own constituencies!

  1. Yeah…sadly I’m afraid our Dem gov in Pa will drag his feet. But still, it’s great to think some places will be opening up,well before the deadline!
And did you catch that it can be county by county, not necessarily state wide? Another brilliant move—and not a moment too soon; we were beginning to see people losing patience with this lockdown. MAGA!!!!!!!!!!

  2. It is the right thing to do with the added benefit that it is political checkmate for the Ruling Class.
I can almost hear their whiplash as they begin to reverse themselves and argue for central control of this virus by subject matter experts (of which there are none) in our nation’s capital.

I like and love it, but why describe it as brilliant?

  3. I am not following the blow by blow of this so pardon my ignorance. Cannot a case be made that President Trump seized all control over this thing initially to become our savior-in-chief and now that he has lost the handle he is pushing it back down onto the States’ governors in hopes of deflecting blame for wrecking our economy?

Simplicity is always brilliant because few understand its power. Nanda summed it up nicely.

  5. ST, you’ve got the “bird’s-eye 360” view here, actually, so your scenario has legs, too, in some ways. Some of these governors deserve to have egg flu yung all over their supercilious mugs.

And perhaps this will alert low info voters but I firmly believe DJT has eyes and ears at the state legislative level and won’t allow virus victims to fall between the cracks.

We have 50 governors, LT governors and state legislatures. What in the hell do they do all day? It’s becoming glaringly obvious that each state and counties within those states are experiencing different effects from the virus. This problem has become far too individualized to be handled solely by one man in Washington.
