More Protests

The protests are happening in many states now: https://www.cnn.com/2020/04/16/us/protests-coronavirus-stay-home-orders/index.html. There was also a protest in Boston today which is apparently too recent for any news outlets to have picked up on it-or maybe they just don’t want to admit that there are enough conservatives in Massachusetts to have a protest 🙂 The Boston protest was organized by a group called Super Happy Fun America; I am on their mailing list, and was informed of the protest a couple of days ago, but could not attend because my Mom needed me today.

Anyway, these protests are really starting to take off-God Bless America!

  1. I would like to post a flag of the Army of Northern Virginia (AKA: The Stars & Bars and Confederate flag) except the ignorant KKK and evil neo-NAZIs have turned into a symbol of Southern heritage and American white folks’ oppression of blacks.

      2. Virginia, (West Virginia seceded from Virginia to stay with the Union), Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, Louisiana, that is as far as I can get without Mr Google, going to consult him right now 🙂

  3. I am pretty sure that Arizona, New Mexico and Texas were not states, but were territories at the time of the Civil War. I have not consulted Google on this, but am thinking this is where the trick part of the trick question is.

      2. I have consulted Google; every map I see tells me that only 11 states seceded from the Union, it gets a little confusing, because there were some slave states-such as Maryland, that decided to stay in the Union.

  6. Correct answer, Judy. Neither Kentucky nor Missouri seceded from the Union but both were represented on the flag of the Army of Northern Virginia.

    1. These protests are in reaction to the Federal and/or State governments’ ongoing violation of their Constitutional rights in response to nCOVID-19. Especially governments’ denial of God-given rights which are explicitly protected in the first 10 amendments to the US Constitution, known as the Bill of Rights.

      2. Yes because the protestors believe that their Constitutional rights are being violated. In other words, they believe the lockdown is unlawful/ unconstitutional, and I agree with them.

      4. I believe the people in those communities know what is best for them. It should be their call not the Ruling Class’s living in Washington DC.

        Interesting. I’d say it was more ObamaCare and the Ruling Class’s attempt to nationalize the health industry. Please explain how you think it was due to arrogance.

      6. When it was spreading in the EU with impunity, the United States should have reacted. The condition would not have been so awful if they had taken some early steps. Work went on as usual, till it was out of control. Maybe I am wrong!

      7. The US was relying on lies and propaganda from both China and WHO. President Trump did not take firm action until end of Jan/ early Feb based on those lies.

        By the time the US reacted, hundreds or thousands of nCOVID-19 carriers had already spread threw the US like an inkblot. I blame America’s too late reaction on our incompetent intelligence community.

      9. ‘Twas ever thus but President Carter (late 1970’s) drove the final stake through the heart of America’s spies. Hillary’s home-baked e-mail server surely caused the horrendous torture and death of many ‘assets.’ America’s Ruling Class is what happened. No sane person in the world would inform to the CIA after what Secretary of State Clinton did.

        This is arrogance but not America’s arrogance.

      10. The people have followed the mandates of the government for months. They’ve had it with all the fear mongering and their attitude has become ‘enough is enough.’ They are within their rights as American citizens to protest and worship freely.

      12. I live in Thailand and don’t know either. The four ‘Ettes all live in the US. I suspect their anecdotal evidence is quite the opposite of what you have seen on FB.

  9. Ok, here is my input 🙂 The protests are happening because at this point, many Americans believe that the cure is worse than the disease. There are small businesses that will never recover from this economic shutdown; people are being destroyed economically and some will never recover from this. Fully 10% of Americans are now unemployed: those are the worst numbers since the Depression. This simply cannot go on. Yes, covid19 kills people, but being economically destroyed also kills people: whenever unemployment goes up, suicides also go up, along with alcohol and drug addiction, not to mention drug overdoses. And this destruction is being wrought to prevent the spread of an illness that, it turns out, is probably only slightly more lethal than the seasonal flu.

    The bottom line is, most people are just not really afraid of covid19: Yes, our Constitutional rights are being violated, but people would be far more forgiving of that if their rights were being violated to prevent the spread of an illness they were afraid of. Way back when, when we first heard of covid19, from what I could tell, most people acted responsibly, but reactions varied: there definitely were people teeming on beaches and in restaurants, especially in places like Florida, where a lot of college kids go on vacation. When asked, they said that they were not afraid of covid19 for the same reasons they were not afraid of the flu.

    Americans accepted certain measures in order to protect the vulnerable, but as more information comes in, it seems that covid19 is nowhere near as bad as we were told it would be. And unfortunately, we cannot protect everyone from everything: tens of thousands of people, mostly elderly, die each year from the seasonal flu, and no one bats an eye. A far greater number than that die in car accidents: no one intends to give up their car. Suicides and drug overdoses have been steadily increasing for years: the medical establishment doesn’t care, but for some reason, covid19 is public enemy number one? We live in a world of risk, but are being told that we must give up our rights and freedoms to prevent the spread of covid19. A lot of people are just not willing to do that, and their numbers will increase as time goes on.

  10. I just heard someone on tv point this out: none of these violations of our rights can happen without the consent of the governed. As Simon alluded to, this has much to do with 2nd amendment: police and military forces in America cant enforce laws that most Americans disagree with, especially when a lot of those Americans are armed.

    I could not agree more. Nobody is paying attention to the NYC numbers: 200 healthy people died while 9800 people with severe pre-existing condition died. What is this telling us?

    This is a serious virus no doubt but people with compromised health are taken down every year to the tune of 60,000 by the regular series of flu viruses. I’m especially aware of this because the flu shot is the single most important topic discussed among seniors in a state that is over-represented by the 70+ group. I’ve never had one because I’m not a senior and I am in good health. Why take a shot if you’re not particularly vulnerable?

    This country worries an awful lot about flu but continues to eat itself to death. The rates of type II diabetes and heart disease due to obesity is overwhelming. The after shock of the coronavirus was an accident waiting to happen.

    In the meantime, Pelosi and Schumer are worried about funding the Kennedy Center and NEA and as DJT said last night: He isn’t signing off a single new bill that doesn’t support anything but the research and the medical help needed to save the afflicted. If and when this medical issue ever gets resolved, I want every single dime from the purse of Congress designated to destroying the Chinese economy and their sloppy safety standards and disregard for life. I don’t want to buy a single product from that country and I’m willing to pay for made in North America.

    I put on a band-aid this morning and noticed it was made in China. As our good friend Hypatia would say, WTF?
    I went back to the drugstore…

    2. I started my own quiet protest against made in China years ago, and am happy to report that all the belts I currently own are made in either America or Canada. On the other hand, it is almost impossible and a ton of work to avoid buying stuff that is not made in China. Even my once beloved New Balance ‘go-fasters’ are no longer made in USA. When Zippo lighters are made in China we will know the end is nigh.

      1. Actually, I was just pulling ET’s leg/gam. I have conferred with myself and we have decided WTF (either with or without the – over?) is to be allowed.

        By the way, I do think it began as a military thing and now you civilians use it like it was yours from the get-go.
