I’m sicka all this “let’s all do our part”, “we’re all in this together”, and especially the moronic governmental slogan #alonetogether. I just am; call me a selfish shit. I have 3 MIPs (most important persons) in my life, and THEIR health, wealth and safety is basically what I care about. Oh and MINE.
Please don’t take it personally. I love you all, after my fashion. But I’m not in a position to do anything for you , I mean physically, like, I dunno, trying to avoid breathing on you, or delivering supplies to you. If I could, I’d do it for you. I guess…no: I would. Okay? My affections are engaged. There. I’m not SO bad.
But I think I’m right to focus on me, and the other individual ants or worker bees. Because America isn’t suffering that much on the macro level. Big box stores are open. Franchise restaurants are open for takeout, which was always a big part of their business. What has been wiped out is small private enterprise, individual effort and ambition.
That’s like, our favorite restaurant (and I’m thinking of one that’s like 30 miles away from us; that’s how far we have to go to find a beloved pub!) But it’s not only that: it’s our local dentist . It’s individual professionals, who have dared to invest in opening their own offices. Optometrists, and even MD family practitioners. And believe me, to do what people used to call “hanging out a shingle”, meaning open your own practice, sell your own individual expertise, is a monumental undertaking which our government has been diligently trying to make impossible ever since Bill Clinton’s day. “Our brave health care workers” have been laid off, UNLESS they work for one of the mega conglomerates into which nearly all hospitals have been absorbed. (Absorbed, digested and shat out: after the acquisitions, the smaller community hospitals found themselves darkened, room by room, floor by floor. And the health insurance carriers, to which we have to pay more and more and more? They have huge stables of employees dedicated to making sure nobody lingers in the shiny new facilities, and making sure they don’t have to pay out for anybody who IS hospitalized.
I love seeing these protests. Americans are awake, after all. You go, my countrymen!
But these few weeks are a golden age of resistance. It won’t be long before the Left comes up with a way to demonize them. Ridiculing them and calling them—ME—stupid, selfish, “irresponsible”,like the International Left and the sanctimonious Karens are doing now, faute de mieux , is the best they can do this week, but by next week they will have developed a way to “prove” that these protests themselves are “killing people!”
See your own situation clearly. Rail against the privations being imposed on you, individually. You know what to do.
The locusts have no King, yet go they forth in bands….
Yeah, after the moronic Governor has torn my home-care network to shreds, because they also care for others, and may be exposed in those environments and my dear sister (for whom this network was originally created) is doing everything by herself – again. Try #AlonePeriod. This article in today’s Wall Street Journal nails it.

I hated the ‘Army of one’ nonsense that some idiot came up with about the same time the Army thought it would be a good idea to give everyone a beret.* However the Founding Brothers were right, the best way to deal with this crisis is to unleash the individual genius of every American. President Trump needs to follow his instincts and stop listening to his one size fits all beltway experts.
*Most female soldiers looked way cuter in berets than in those silly looking Army hats.

Damn right Hyp! (I’m still waiting for the day when we have a disagreement.) 🙂
Based upon previous conversations we’ve had, you’ll understand the sadness I’m feeling today for losing a friend I’ve had since I was ten years old and all over the Fuhrer who runs Michigan. It is a tragic scenario that Americans cannot discuss politics without rancor, bitterness and are perfectly happy to lose longtime friendships over political issues.
Do you think this is all about ego? I think it is. I mentioned that Governor Cuomo even admitted that out of the 10,000 deaths in NY (a significant sample) only 2% of the healthy with no preexisting conditions died. This is less than the number of deaths from the regular flu viruses in 2018.
Her response? “I’m focusing upon scientific data and you’re quoting the talking heads.”
Nasty words and ensuing hang-up.

I’m just racketing back and forth between unreasoning anger both at the national situation and the situation here, and feeling like I’m bad for being angry, really it’s hurting ME as much as or more than anybody else, why can’t I just…let it be……but I can’t. I gotta be me. I am a termagant.

“Termagant” 🙂 Hypatia, you have taught me another new word, I am off to look it up right now, thank you 🙂

You are not a termagant, Hypatia! Not in any way; you are an angel, and we are blessed to have you 🙂

Judy, that comment is, really, bringing tears to my eyes..but…you wouldn’t like me when I’m angry! I must try to be better, for the Ettes! 💔💔

Oh, c’mon don’t be so hard on yourself. I’d still like you when you’re angry but I hope you can repeat the compliment when and if you ever see that side of me! 🙂
I think I could even scare Chinggis…

Your anger is justified and as long as it doesn’t become hate, it will not hurt you. Right now I am hating on the ChiComs and angry with our Ruling Class who for thirty pieces of made in China silver have created a near-peer enemy with no vestige of human morality.
I am not sure that America will survive her bout with Kung Flu. One thing that I hope is becoming apparent is that our Ruling Class is unworthy of their elevated positions within society. If America does not survive, life under Chinese rule will be nasty, brutish, and short. I saw the transition in Panama (thank you Jimmy Carter) when the Chinese took over the canal we built for them.

Before letting your righteous anger become the hate which will destroy you, sell all your stuff and move here to my nice gated community and bury your sorrows in beer, ganja, and young, pretty, playful Thai ladies. Just sayen’

Nature put anger on Earth for the purpose of self-defense. Hatred (in small doses) isn’t altogether bad because it provides tremendous motivation. The CCP is the best incentive I could have as I search for all the new American businesses cropping up to help people and businesses adapt to the WUHAN virus.
I just have to reiterate my admiration for the American work ethic and its ability to react to changing environments. Frankly, some of the most successful stocks I have owned in the last five years (per % increase by month) are coming from companies who are addressing a severe problem sooner rather than later.
