Blondie – Rapture

Former go-go dancer, Playboy Bunny, and waitress at Max’s Kansas City, NYNY. U go girl!

The very first white chick to top the charts with a rap song. Baby-san was definitely way ahead of her time. The lyrics are fun too, unlike modern rap which seems totes misogynistic to this reporter.

    1. It was number one on the charts, so yes, it got a ton of airplay. Maybe you were overseas in the jungles of South America neck-deep in the war on drugs and missed that moment of US pop culture? I know the feeling dude.

      1. I may not have been overseas, but spent a lot of time in ‘inner space’ then; pop culture sort of washed over me, unless I surfaced, I suppose. đŸ™‚

      2. Yep. I completely missed the Wendy’s ‘where’s the beef’ era. For the longest time, I had no idea what people where talking about. Still don’t to some extent.

      3. I’m not sure you missed much on the ‘culture’ front; you gained self-knowledge and wisdom instead.

  1. She was perfect for Max’s in her day. The only other one in her league (although a bit more clean-cut) was and is Gwen Stefani. That girl still looks fabulous.
