History aside, this was a comment blurted out from my distracted, apolitical husband this evening. Quote:
“They want you to be beholden to them via all their government programs. They keep people tethered to the concept that self-reliance is a notion for rich people only. ”
I think the Democratic National Convention last week pushed him over the edge because he didn’t stop railing.
“Many people weren’t happy before and they’re even unhappier about Trump. He changed all the rules and posed a serious threat to Obama supporters on the gravy train. Those people aren’t achievers, they’re parasites.”
Now he’s got an obsession about voting.
“If you don’t file a federal tax return, why do you get to vote on how my tax dollars are spent? Why can’t I drive without a license? Why can’t I buy a house without a down payment and a credit rating?”
This is nothing the rest of us haven’t felt for quite some time, but he’s been absorbed in his business (thankfully). Tonight I had to open a bottle of his favorite chardonnay and advise him to “drink the whole thing.”

Lol 🙂 Something very similar happened with Robin. He didn’t pay much attention to politics when he first came to America. I tried to tell him that liberals are crazy. He suspected that I had just been brainwashed by my parents. Then, after I had known him for a couple of years, he started paying attention. He heard that the NY Times was the paper of record, so he started reading it. After two weeks of reading, he looked at me and said “These people are nuts.”
He ending up becoming the resident conservative of the NY Times comments section, and he spent about 10 years being a contrarian and commenting there, until they canceled him and erased everything he had ever written.
Tell your husband for me, Welcome aboard 🙂

Your man is SO right! And I hope that now finally enough people are beginning to agree so that Trump will win this year. God bless and keep that man, who is standing up for basic, fundamental American values.. IF OUR COUNTRY FALLS ,WE ARE ALL “IN THE LAND OF MORDOR WHERE THE SHADOWS LIE” . God save the United States.

Does anyone else wonder how we came to the sad state of affairs that the party of Lincoln is now seen as fascist and racist?
Lincoln was shot in the back of the head at point-blank range as a direct consequence of ending slavery worldwide (outside the Muslim community). His wife saw the man she loved murdered in front of her eyes. The Lincoln family paid dearly in other ways and the know-nothings at Black Lives Matter want the Emancipation Memorial, funded by emancipated slaves, removed.
One cannot make this schtuff up!
