North Star

There is but one immutable guiding light.

Forever fixed in the heavens – it does not, cannot rise or set.

The North Star is the pilgrims guide to knowledge.

Follow your beacon without fear through good and bad.

If you remain steadfast and humble in seeking wisdom,

she will lead to peace, love, meaning, purpose,

and eventually, when you are prepared to embrace her, eternal Truth.

    1. Money does a lot of good for people. It creates jobs and consumerism, supports charitable institutions, builds museums, libraries, schools.

You cannot separate financial wealth from the good of society. If you do so, I suggest you move to North Korea.

      1. Now that’s an interesting thought but I might argue what we discussed the other night; the power of envy, the most destructive of the seven deadly sins.

      2. Love of money (along with power) is no small thing either. Look at what it has done to the people of North Korea and Venezuela, just to mention a few million suffering souls.

This comment reminds me of a very interesting conversation I had around the dinner table one night with family and friends. One of the guests asked the question “Why do we pursue the making of the almighty dollar?”

My father popped up immediately with the response “security” just as I was commenting “freedom of choice.”

It’s funny how the two of us had completely different priorities. The point I’m trying to make is that money isn’t attractive in and of itself but simply for what it can provide for the individual.
