Ecclesiasticus 3:5 Context

2For the Lord hath given the father honour over the children, and hath confirmed the authority of the mother over the sons. 3Whoso honoureth his father maketh an atonement for his sins: 4And he that honoureth his mother is as one that layeth up treasure. 5Whoso honoureth his father shall have joy of his own children; and when he maketh his prayer, he shall be heard. 6He that honoureth his father shall have a long life; and he that is obedient unto the Lord shall be a comfort to his mother. 7He that feareth the Lord will honour his father, and will do service unto his parents, as to his masters. 8Honour thy father and mother both in word and deed, that a blessing may come upon thee from them.

  1. Makes me cry, thinking of my own parents, though I feel I did a good job for them, but, but…there is always something to wish I had done better..
…and because my daughter is leaving today, after being home ( thank you PinkChinks!) since March. How I wanna forward this to her! Not that I have any complaints really, she has always been a kind and lovely baby!
Darling Judy, your posts put me in mind of Ruth and Naomi (even though that was an in-law relationship of course.). But the beauty of The Song of Ruth: “Entreat me not to leave thee, nor to refrain from following after thee.: whither thou goest, I will go… Thy people shall be my people and thy God, my God….and in the country where thou diest , there will I be buried…the Lord do so unto me, and more also, if aught but death part thee and me.”
(From memory, so I probably butchered it, sorry..and thanks again for posting this)
