Today, February 17, 2021, one of the greatest and most influential conservatives in America has “slipped the surly bonds of Earth.”
Rush Limbaugh, age 70, died of cancer this morning and already I feel the loss. William F. Buckley, Milton Friedman, Senator Tom Coburn and Herman Cain are also no longer with us and I wonder who is left to fill all those irreplaceable shoes.
R.I.P. Mr. Limbaugh. You will be missed.
He is the Greatest Of All Time. There will never be another like him. We now have a very powerful friend in Heaven. God Bless Rush, and God Bless America, whom he loves so much.

“He is the Greatest Of All Time.”
Remember when you asked me what G.O.A.T. meant? Now you know.

May I add Tony Snow and Dr. Charles Krauthammer to your list of irreplaceables, Liz? I have to say, we’re still here; if we can’t fill their shoes, let’s keep their ideas front-and-center.
May Rush rest in peace and joy; may his family, friends, colleagues, and listeners be comforted – and strengthened to persevere, with glad hearts and big voices.

Nanda, I hate to sound more morbid than I already have but I’m worried about Thomas Sowell now. He’s 90 yrs old.

No worries, Liz; he’s doing interviews, and his wonderful books are in multiple editions/revisions of his own work. He’s showing people how to live long and well – and has taught generations; he’s not going anywhere.

P.S. Let’s add Justice Scalia to the list.

Speaking of conservatives of whom I am fond, I must share this anecdote about Senator Coburn who El Rushbo admired and spoke of often:
I was attending an AEI speech in D.C. and the guest speaker was Dr./Senator Coburn. Afterwards, I rushed out of the room to attend my next lecture at Heritage and ran into Coburn and his entourage at the elevator banks. An elevator opened and I headed towards it before one of the minions stopped me with this remark: “We wait for the Senator first.”
I won’t lie; I was quite taken aback by this remark but the Senator looked at his aide and said “Ladies first.”
True story.
