It’s About Time

U.S. Bishops are criticizing Joe Biden’s enthusiastic support of abortion: https://www.ucanews.com/news/us-bishops-criticize-biden-on-pro-abortion-statement/91138

It is good that the Bishops are doing this. My question is, where were they during the election? For that matter, where have they been for the past 50 years? Biden is hardly the first politician to flaunt himself as a devout Catholic while supporting abortion until the third grade. He is, I suppose, the first President to do this, but still. It is unfortunate that it has taken the Bishops this long to speak out, but still. We should celebrate the fact that the Bishops seem to finally have found their voice.

In other news, AOC is giving up meat for Lent, but she still supports abortion through all nine months of pregnancy.

  1. Yes, they issued a statement, to which Abp. Gomez and others replied with concern. Abp. Cupich of Chicago, was vocally livid about the fact that objections had been raised to a statement made by the Bishops’ Conference (USCCB). I’ll add a link when I’m at my PC. Here it is:

and the pushback from some, at the time:

    1. LOL. The same Cupich of Chicago objected when the Bishops objected to Biden’s stance on abortion. I read about it in the Catholic Register just today. What a hypocrite that guy is.

  2. We often forget that Christ’s Church is made up of sinners who have the opportunity and goal to become saints. Over the years, the Conference has become tied to the Democrat party in a way I cannot begin to fathom….Distressingly so.

    1. Church Militant occasionally takes its ‘militancy’ – and itself – a bit too seriously. I have found them helpful, too, though….

  3. If you consider yourself a devout Catholic but support abortion, you are nothing but a hypocrite and your interests are directed solely at getting votes. Pandering to the voter is a time honored American tradition, but don’t disguise it as anything else. Even as “pro-choice lite,” I have nothing but disdain for people who say one thing and do another whatever the issue may be.

Obviously this is not a religious issue for me but it is one of standing firm for one’s principles. (If they exist.)

  4. 1. I remember watching in horror years ago when Pelosi or John Kerry, both all in on abortion at the time, were shown on a video clip taking communion. I am Protestant and was outraged at the Padre’s lack of self-awareness and/or blatant hypocrisy.
