The Babylon Bee strikes again: https://babylonbee.com/news/the-bee-explains-catholics-vs-protestants
I hope no one is offended. Many years ago, some disc jockey played “Only The Good Die Young” during some Catholic radio fundraiser. I was (and still am) Catholic, and I thought that what this disc jockey did was very funny, but I received some dirty looks from other Catholics when they saw me laughing. I was the only one laughing. I hope this won’t be a repeat of that experience. But I am willing to risk it, because the Babylon Bee is awesome 🙂
“Like Water For Chocolate” was a Spanish foreign language film that came out almost 30 years ago. I went to see it with a couple of friends while visiting California. I really, seriously believed that the movie I was watching was a comedy, and I laughed out loud all the way through it-it seemed like a really good comedy to me, and I was so absorbed in it I didn’t notice that I was the only one in the theater who was laughing. My friends made no effort to explain anything until after the movie. When the movie ended, everyone in the theater was looking at me. And then my friends or “friends” depending on how you look at it, lol, told me that “Like Water For Chocolate” was a very serious very artsy movie that was supposed to be taken very seriously.
To be fair, if my friends had tried to stop me from laughing during the movie, it probably would have just caused me to laugh even more. 🙂

Not in the least offended by this, or you, JaC; but Billy Joel’s song definitely rubbed me the wrong way. 🙂
