Psaki 1, Doocy 0

if Peter Doocy is our great white hope at the press conferences, I’d say we have no hope.

Fox keeps showing a clip of him asking Psaki whether, in light of the video showing toddlers being thrown over the border wall, the Biden admin has any plans to “beef up border security”.

She responded with a question: was Doocy’ s main “concern” the fact that the children were getting in, or was it the safety of the children?

Now here’s where Peter shoulda said, “I asked you about plans for increasing border security. Please, answer my question.”

But no. He quite naturally fell into the trap of saying that the children’s safety was his main concern.

“Of course it is”, smirked the self-satisfied Psaki,( successfully managing to suggest that of course it ISN’T.)

I have seen this clip, several times, and I assume that, if Psaki had been at all discomfited, or had made my damaging admissions, instead of vaulting successfully on Doocy’s shoulders to the high moral ground of the pathetic state of these “children” (anybody under 30,if past practice is a guide) Fox news would be playing the rest of their exchange.

This was not a gotcha moment for our side. If anything, it was one for theirs.

C’mon,Peter: up your game. Dont let Jeering Jen ask you any questions.

Don’t let us down again.

  1. Our side always ends up looking like well-educated amateurs. The problem seems that everybody has to bend over backwards to be ‘the nice guy.’ I say to heck with being the nice guy and have been a wee bit of a rebel for as way back as I can remember.

  2. Recall how inexperienced Doocy is; he has the position because he was ’embedded’ with Biden’s campaign. Everybody has to start somewhere. Btw, I have a related pet peeve: The conservative tendency – among talkers and opiners (media types) – to state problems exquisitely, interminably – and come up with not one solution. I’m sick to death of the whole bunch.

    1. No, you’re right, Nanda. I just hope Peter can learn from his mistakes. He can’t let Psaki wrong-foot him. He’s there to ASK questions, not to be cross examined on his feelings.

      1. True, Hyp, but he’ll either learn or not, from the rough-and-tumble that wokies gonna woke, haters gonna hate, and State-Dept.-spokeswomen who served HRC, gonna be snarkily superior.
