Um, yuh. You won’t believe this, but I admit to not liking certain peoples and customs just because they’re different from you and me!
I know, right? This is absolute anathema, the worst thing I could say. Truly hopeless! Depraved. Jurassic.

Well..I don’t give a fuck!
This is promoted by an article I just read on Aeon about African literacy and how “Eurocentric culture” managed to create the impression that it couldn’t exist. As you know the Phoenicians, a Semitic people, conquered Africa about 2nd Cent BC, and famously, they had a chunky script: cuneiform. Apparently, they were Porto-Europeans(!) and they conspired to prevent the world from finding out about Numidian.
okay:

(A) people DO know about Numidian, and about Punic. There has NOT been an evil conspiracy to pretend it never existed. (But, OTOH: well, when you gat a clash of cultures, you get winners and losers..)

(B) EVERY culture is self-“centric”.. it really wouldn’t be a culture for long if it weren’t. (BTW that’s what’s worrying me now about ours.)

Every culture measures itself against “the other”.

Any culture which belongs to a militant, expansionist people believes in its own superiority. If it didn’t, it wouldn’t be militant and expansionist, now, would it?

Yes, I reckon I DO dislike and disdain some people and some customs just because “they’re not like us”.

And in my humble opinion, that’s the quintessence of being human.

  1. You have NO idea how much I’ve been dying to express the very same thing! I’ll take it a step further… I believe in superior cultures that are both mentally and physically healthy, and state-of-the-art productive so go ahead and give me your best shot. 🙂

    None but the Unleashed! dare see a pandemic and stand athwart history shouting, “China did it, man!”

  6. You may well be right, but Howard Zinn has been salivating over this for decades. Robin DiAngelo wrote “White Fragility” in 2018, she’s the mouthpiece and corporate “wokie” darling.

  7. Americans are the most generous, welcoming people this world has ever seen. Anyone from anywhere can come here: we ask only that they love America and respect our laws. This, we are told, makes us bigots. EFF THEM.

    2. We were blessed by remarkable Founders in every way. Imagine the physical hardships of travel and communication they endured (no Air Force One or cells) and yet they managed to change the world!

      George Washington still floors me as he led a group of men without proper clothing, food or shelter to conquer the greatest military force in the world that had hired the fearless Hessians, believed to be the most rapacious of mercenaries.
