America Needs a Divorce AND a PFAO

Don’t abusers always claim that they loooove their victim, love her more than anybody else ever could, that’s why nobody else can possibly understand that they HAVE to hurt her, even kill her! If we knew what they know about her, we’d “understand” their actions, we’d realize how much she needed, deserved, punishment, and that the abuser only (and only the abuser) truly had her best interests at heart. Read the last scenes of Othello, and especially his final words: his beautiful wife is dead at his hand, and he calls himself “one who loved not wisely but too well”….

This is prompted by reading Michael Anton’s piece on American Greatness this morning, Paleontology. It relates to an ongoing dispute with another commentator about The 1776 Report. The other, also purporting to be a “conservative” and firmly on the Right , excoriated the report and is dedicated to the proposition that the Founders were racist hypocrites. “Love “ America? Anton logically questions whether his opponent even likes her.

In domestic abuse cases, at least where denial isn’t plausible, one often sees the abuser resort to sniveling protestations of his eternal, overweening love for the battered victim—and, incredibly to an onlooker, she sometimes recants her accusations, she will not press charges, he’s right! she isn’t perfect. She doesn’t want him locked up, after all, nor even enjoined from contact, what was she thinking? Love, she sees only the love. (Or rather she hears only love’s “useful name”.) Of course he can come home!

Next stop for her: the morgue.

As Anton points out, it is effing not true, it is patently the abuser’s time-tested LIE, that when you love someone, or something, (in this case, our country) you cannot refrain from verbal and physical punishment of the love object: that such abuse is in fact the most loving course of action you could possibly take.

Wake UP, America honey, America the beautiful! You know you’ve got a homicidal, hate-obsessed stalker: the Left. You need to also see clearly the mortal peril from your former lover: the progressive Right.
Do they say they love you, but hate your origin, hate certain past deeds of yours?
