Winning the Peace

Bear with me fellow members as I venture to a place I have never gone before: military and diplomatic philosophy.

I realize we have some pretty astute and experienced military experts on this site (yes, Simon, that means you!) but I want to comment on the infamous “power vacuum” that will always exist in this world.

There is no such thing as peace but only a desire for power. That is an unpleasant aspect of human nature that we simply must confront in order to combat it and maintain the position of “top dog.” Every free nation in the world – despite their rude, envious grumbling – knows it to be preferable to have the U.S. policing the planet as opposed to the CCP. Even poor, isolated Cuba with no Internet access knows this!

So explain to me why Washington worries about the opinions of the UN and other Western European nations. Folks, we are waay beyond playing nice with the other kids in the sandbox.

I have no answers to this dilemma, but hopefully you do.

Why America’s current emphasis upon a “global world?”

  1. Liz, we saved the other kids’ bacon twice, we sure as shootin’ created a very lazy, spoiled monster, non? Demoncrats, since WWII, have wanted “The Internationale” to be our anthem, haven’t they?

  2. Joshing aside, Liz, your post invites all of our readers – active/retired military, and civilians – to chime in about re-making and *keeping* the peace: block-by-block, neighborhood by neighborhood, town by town, etc. until we’re
“E pluribus unum” (Of many, one) again. Those of us on the civilian side, who may not feel like they have the skills to make a difference, might be able to take encouragement from author and political commentator – when he was interviewed about current books, “The Strange Death of Europe” and “The Madness of Crowds”, in late-October of 2019. When the interviewer asked for closing thoughts about solutions, Murray replied: “Live the life you want….The life you lived yesterday.”

Folks, let us know about the strategic picture – and/or how you (individual/family) are pushing back and living-out making and keeping – winning – the peace. We look forward to learning more….
