I have received the double jab. My BMD was anxious for us both to do so in order to recover our freedom. (Yeah, so looks like that ain’t happenin’…..but it’s okay, it was worth the, ah, shot. ). I don’t regret it. I don’t have that much of a future (although I did recently decide I will live to 90 if possible.)I do wish my daughter hadn’t gotten the vax, but she’s over 21 and it wasn’t up to us. In hindsight, it really doesn’t seem like the potential future risks to her are justified in light of her minuscule risk from the disease itself. But—bygones!
I hafta say it doesn’t seem like the stuff works very well. But my BMD says it does, even if it doesn’t prevent the illness it will be much milder. Tru dat. Almost nobody is dying from Delta, almost nobody is even being hospitalized.
Lately the awful us vs.them hostility toward the unvaccinated has reminded me of another instance where a ruler forced everybody in his tribe to undergo an invasive procedure en masse. I’m talkin’ ‘bout the story of Dinah, Jacob’s daughter, raped by the scion of some tribe through whose lands Jake &sons were passing.
Said the ruler of that polity: “You’re mad, I get it, but: Hey, look, the kids are in love! Whyncha settle here, all your girls can marry my boys, my boys can take your girls to wife? See? Happy family!”
Said the men of Israel:”We can not give our women to uncircumcised men.”
So the ruler of the other polity ordered every man in his kingdom to get their foreskins sheared the next day.
it didn’t end well, for them. While the men were all lying around groaning from the pain of the incisions, Jacob’s sons came in, slew the invalids, and carried off their women.
Dinah was avenged! And the universal problem of exogamy (somehow you HAFTA breed outside your own kin group if you don’t wanna it to die out)? Solved!
No, messing en masse with the medical decisions of the populace has no beneficent historical precedent. As that hapless king said albeit in a different context:
Cut it out!
Hyp, looks like you and I will never meet for dinner at Cafe Luxembourg (my favorite restaurant in NYC) because I would need to present a vax passport. 😦

Still not doing it, b/c both flu and pneumonia shots knocked me flat when I had them the first time….”Twice-burned, thrice-shy.” Individuals need to make their own medical decisions. (What ever happened to: “My body, my choice.” anyway?)

“My body, my choice.”
D’Nanda nails it with this universal get out of jail free card.
How the Feds can look themselves in the mirror and even discuss masks while illegals are pouring in from every direction now is beyond me. Where the fuck d0 they think nCOVID-19 came from?

We have 16,000 en route to Florida as we speak. You know cities like Palm Beach aren’t going to accept any so I’m sure they’ll be centered primarily in the north.
Anyone aware of states rights on this issue? We’ve heard nothing yet from DeSantis.

Me get a jab? Yeah, and you can start looking for the other Three Horseman of the Apocalypse. Fortunately I live in a State that has an intelligent Governor.

Florida. Desantis. I respect Covid, but no more than any other strain of the flu. I do not wear a mask for any other air borne transferable disease, many that can be fatal, why is this one any different?

Is it too personal to ask what city? Understand if you don’t want to divulge this info online.

Growing up, my family spent every spring break in Sarasota. We all loved the Gulf so much we all moved south to Naples.
Now I’m back up north on Amelia Island because Naples has absolutely exploded! People are building 4-5,000 sq ft homes on 2/3 acre lots! Privacy? Peace and quiet? What’s that? If I heard another lawn blower, I might have had to get violent.
Bought 4 acres of forest preserve up here and built so I usually see my neighbors (the deer) only occasionally and hear no lawn blowers, but it’s cold in the winter! 🙂
Hope you’re enjoying the balmy south.
