  1. “Let the hero born of woman crush the serpent with his heel,” as Julia Ward Howe put it.

Stay safe, as we now must say. I’ve heard that with some snakes, the first bite or two may not be fatal, but instead of building up immunity to the venom, immunity breaks down with each bite, until one more infusion overwhelms the body.

    1. My paternal granfather was a bee keeper (as was my father). “Pops” almost died of a bee sting when he was already long in the tooth. He was not stung often but we believe his immunity waned until it was practically non-existent. On the other hand, perhaps his nearly fatal reaction was 100% due to old age?

    2. I am hearing this thing about everybody telling everyone to stay safe. Believe me, they really couldn’t give a shit one way or the other about your demise.

    1. I neither know what kind of snake it is nor whether or not it is poisonous, but I mean to find out.

I live in Thailand, but my brothers live in the FLA (h/t to Lou Reed) panhandle.

  2. It crawled right past me then under the screen door into my home. I lost sight of it when I reached for my kitchen knife.

Dear Santa, please send a proper machete to me ASAP.
