  1. It’s too much y’all. This geographic region has been hit far too hard for too many years. I understand love of neighborhood because I live in Florida but I could not withstand the continual abuse.

God Bless these people. But would you please consider moving??

      1. Don’t expect any empathy from me then. You do what you gotta do. I’ve moved to 5 different geographical locations due to various issues (taxes, cost of living, crime, enticing job offers, etc.). And I was poor as a church mouse for 2 of those moves.

I just finished re-reading Terry Teachout’s excellent biography on Louis Armstrong who grew up in a New Orleans brothel and even when he became famous was not permitted to stay in hotels based in the South. Read that book and you’ll lose the empathy. When he died, he left a $2.5 million dollar estate in 1971 worth $6.6 million today.

  2. I realize I hardly need to educate the theological experts on THIS sight, but thought I’d add this because it reflects my beliefs:

Deism: belief in the existence of a supreme being, specifically of a creator who does not intervene in the universe. The term is used chiefly of an intellectual movement of the 17th and 18th centuries that accepted the existence of a creator on the basis of reason but rejected belief in a supernatural deity who interacts with humankind.

Just to clarify for all those who consider this agnosticism, it is not. Washington put it well me thinks:

“Less emphasis on the pomp and pageantry; more on the 10 commandments and living a moral life.”

    This made sense to me.

  3. Addendum: Deism appeals to me greatly because it set forth some outstanding principles and expects us to do our part and live our lives accordingly. In a weird kind of way it celebrates taking personal responsibility.

Hope you enjoyed this, folks! It’s the most you will ever get out of me on the topic of religion again, but the Founders (as they always do) inspire me. 🙂

  4. “It seems so different from “Satchmo’s” day, sadly….”

Sadly? Satchmo was one of America’s most beloved entertainers but was very often (while traveling) treated like a n******.

Despite it all, he persevered with his music and became a legend. This is my point. Talent, charisma, can overcome anything.

I chose “It’s a Wonderful World” for my first wedding dance and video.
