First clue: Same reason there is no saluting in the field.
Second clue: The only officers I saluted in the field were the ones I wanted the enemy’s sniper to shoot at but only causing a flesh wound so minor to be rendered harmless by merely introducing a bandaid into the equation. Joking people!

I’m sure there were some officers who needed to be reminded of why they were in the field in the first place, ST. This seems like a perfectly reasonable way to provide the reminder. Also joking, people! 🐼
