Those words were spoken to my tonight by my 89 year old mother, who often speaks frankly with the privilege of her age. I had just finished heating up a nice bowl of turkey soup for her supper. I told her that supper was ready. She informed me that she had just put a butterscotch in her mouth. This happens a lot: she loves her hard candies. I tried to convince her to just get rid of the butterscotch and come eat her supper, at which point she said, “You are not supposed to be telling me what to do. I am supposed to be telling you what to do.” I told my mother that I was not telling her what to do, and that I was just making a request. The title of this post was her response to my request.
She will be 90 in less than a year, and she is sharp as a razor mentally. I love elderly people, and I love my mother π
She sounds like a total charmer..π!

She is! She is the cutest person who has ever existed, and everyone who has ever known her would agree with me about that. I am so blessed to have her π

Her tendency to state things bluntly is part of her charm π

One’s so-called “Give No Foxtrots” diminishes with age, I think.

Smiles, I would have to agree. She is old enough to have whatever she wants to have for meals. If the soup gets cold, she will have a fashionable cold soup or get some Lunchables. There are a million edible foods that do not require reheating. βοΈπβοΈ
