For a long time after Benghazi, I assumed that Benghazi occurred because of incompetence, and that everything was an attempt to cover up for this incompetence. But given what we have witnessed in Afghanistan, it is clear that the ruling class are failing on purpose.
Most Americans are good and decent people. The level and scope of evil that exists in the ruling class is mind blowing. It has to be seen to be believed, you can’t make it up. And even when they see it with their own eyes, some still won’t believe, but more people are opening their eyes every day.
Since so few of the current political decision makers have ever worn a military uniform, they are making dumbass decisions based on “facebook” postings, rather than real world experiences.
We have the most sophisticated intelligence of any country on this planet so I doubt if we have much to learn. There is a decided effort to bring this country to its knees by its own citizens but the question is why?
We have to learn that “Those who don’t learn from history are condemned to repeat it.” And that “Freedom is always one generation away from extinction.” This includes our so-called ‘intelligence community’, too. (They are pretty darn good at ignoring the obvious and dropping the ball, lately.)
Our revered Ben Franklin did say “A republic if you can keep it.” The Founders were dreadfully pessimistic and many (including Washington) believed our system of govt would not last beyond their generation.
We’ve proven the greatest minds to be wrong for 245 years, so why drop the ball now?
Liz, ‘sophisticated intelligence’ hasn’t lived up to its earlier reputation recently, has it? Especially since it’s been used to advance a particular narrative or agenda. Sad, sad, sad.
She’s the whipped-cream-and-a-cherry on top of this banana split, for sure, but things probably had started to degrade prior to her ascendancy, which made this mess uniquely possible. Recall J. Edgar Hoover’s dominance, too, domestically.
HumInt is dangerous and sometimes dirty work. The USA don’t do HumInt and has not forever (see Jimmy “the Fighting Jack Rabbit” Carter) because, you know, takes cats like me to do that kind of miserable work; and, cats like me are hard for the Ruling Class’s bean counters to shackle then monitor. SigInt ‘keeps it clean.’ Bad news is we never know what the foxtrot the bad guys are up to until after they sucker punch us (again).
Nanda, how many times have you heard me bitch about the USA’s aversion to HumInt?
*Remind me to tell y’all sometime when I am hammered and on the floor underneath Hypatia’s Christmas tree about the time I almost got ‘popped’ by Venezuela’s counterspies when in-country and got careless.
Our vaunted Special Operators haven’t done much to free the “Vens” or did I not get that memo?
I’ll admit I didn’t really believe people lived in a cloistered world with zero curiosity about that which exists outside their parochial little environment.
Thus, I have to label myself as “naive.” And yet, these arrogant, ignorant pricks run a site that presents itself as the Encyclopedia Britannia.
And the most frustrating aspect of this is that we’re all thrown off the site for calling them on this!
Lol 🙂 Many of my female ancestors were maids to wealthy families when they first came over from Ireland. One of them worked for the Rockefellers. Aunt Jane, who I have been told I look like, used to entertain my father and his siblings with stories of all the dumb and ridiculous things the people she worked for did. “They are not smarter than we are.” she told the children. Lol 🙂
All of this causes me to think twice before hiring a maid 🙂
I actually am pleased that our variety of conversation might inspire L1 to greater quality of control. It’s nice that we are possibly of service. 🐼 I enjoyed your illustration on the various aspects of being aware of the various venues one can gather/gain HumInt pleasantly, too.
And don’t forget Waco, Ruby Ridge, that young boy made it to Miami whose mom drowned getting him out of Cuba libre my arse.

You are far too kind, TES. Too many of our current political decision makers are bought and paid for by China and God only knows who else.

Now, we can add Kabul to the wall of shame: “When will (we) ever learn?”

Agree. Partisanship and corruption have managed to sneak their way in to our most critical branch of govt and I blame Madam HRC for this.

Definitely more than once, ST; but if it’s true – and meant to instruct – it’s not ‘bitchy’.

My second suspension was for doing exactly what Mad MaxxiPad advised me to do. Can you say Catch 22 anyone?

The maid should also be the owner if you rent.
