I looove Indian food. 🙂 I never had it, until Robin introduced me to it. I am a picky eater, and suspicious of new foods, but Indian food is so good! We only have one decent Indian restaurant around here, in Northampton, of course, and it is very expensive, because it’s the only good one around. Robin and I only went there 3 or 4 times a year, because the bill was never less than 100 dollars for the two of us, but it was worth it. So good!
Most of the time, Robin made his own curries, and they were delicious. Robins’ curry was better than anything they have at the restaurant, but he didn’t do picoras, and the restaurant does wonderful picoras. That is the only reason we went there, but their picoras are really really good 🙂
Bumped into some Americans at a restaurant last night and felt separated by a common language and culture.

There was something mysterious about their work here.
She said something something about life coach and debrief.

I told her that I had been debriefed by the CIA.
She and I seemed to have different definitions for the same words.
They were mysterious in a non-violent way.

If they were do-gooders getting paid to do good, wouldn’t they want to let that cat out of the bag?

I asked one guy, after too much staring, if he liked the young lady at my table.
Why do so many Americans forget their manners when abroad?

If I were 26.5 years old, I doubt he would have behaved so recklessly.

The mysterious strangers talked about something to do with closing and opening doors to one’s life experience or something cosmic like that.
I wonder if they were counseling girls who had been sex trafficked?

So righteous yet so mysterious, were they?

I get the feeling that they were kind of self important. Am I right about that?

Almost snobbish but obviously for good reason.

People like that give Americans such a bad name. Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately? I have encountered Europeans who are no better. It’s awful.

Or maybe they just rightly resented paying a fraction of my USMC pension but were too good to go there?

Awful. People like that are awful.

Angels are never “almost snobbish.”

Nevertheless neither my dinner companion nor myself ‘clicked’ with them, my mysterious American strangers.

You say that maybe they were counseling girls who had been sex trafficked, but then, why wouldn’t they just say that? To protect the girls, maybe?

It was a bit surreal.

I am sorry if I said that. My command of my mother tongue is pathetic.

You didn’t say “maybe.” You said “I wonder if they were…” and then I substituted the word “maybe’. I am sorry for doing that.

They implied something but said almost nothing.

One of the gents enjoyed leering at my companion until I suggested he tone down the staring.

Sold! The next ST UnWoke! hook up, spiritual bed, bath, and BBQ will be held in a retreat in India’s Himalayas.

Your forget how unadventurous some of us are, Simon 🙂 could we just do it at a nice Indian restaurant in the States instead? 🙂

A feast for body, mind, and spirit. In ways that may yet – or never – manifest themselves. (Cool pic, too.)
