November Nightmare

Im very nervous about the cocky, overconfident attitude the GOP now exhibits about the midterms. No, no, guys, let’s pretend we’re losing. Shhhhh. idk, i reckon tnat feeling is just superstition on my part.

So, one thing im dreading is that this overconfident bloviation will energize and mobilize the Dems. And i mean not only individual voters, but that powerful ”shadow biosphere”, the ”powerful cabal” they openly boasted of after 2020.
And could we still lose? Could something happen which transforms Ol’Jo[k]e into a beloved American Grand Old Man, a Reaganesque figure? What if he got really sick and then recovered? What if he survived an assassination attempt, like Reagan? What if the war in Ukraine ends and, thanks to the Biden family’s now well-attested and corrupt connections in that country, the peace is credited to Bygone? ive heard a week is a long time in politics, and we’ve got seven months to get through.

And the other thing im dreading?

That we win, gloriously and decisively, like we did in 2016, we take both houses of Congress! – and the GOP behaves like it did in 2016. It squandered its victory, our victory, over twonyesrs, until —whew! — it could say once again, ”we cant help it.” (Cue Atlas Shrugged.) It knew what we wanted: a border wall! A strong and not-mentally-ill military! America First! what Trump said!
But they didnt have his back, the president who had swept them all into power. They NEVER did.Four months after he was inaugurated, the GOP, then firmly in control of Congress, allowed the appointment of Special Counsel Mueller. WTF? can you imahine the Dems allowing that? Actually, you dont have to imagime the scenario: how many times have we now seen photos of Ol’Bygone, when he was VP, canoodling with Hunter’s corrupt foreign cronies? There’s enough on Hunter’s laptop, more than enough, to have Bygone père run out of DC on an Amtrak rail. But we all know that aint gonna happen cuz the Dems control Congress. The GOP cant help it!

So what if we DO win big in the midterms—and the GOP still doesnt do what we will have elected them to do? what if they just natter on about bipartisanship? About ”compassion”? What if they fo NOT immediately vote to impeach this corrupt, dishonest president?

In my November nightmare, there are worse things than losing.

  1. I think the days are gone when people tolerated the behavior you describe from Republicans, Hypatia. Those days have to be gone, because this cannot go on.
