I’m trying to work sump’n out in my head, be patient.
Nancy Pelosi said today that as a result of Roe v. Wade being overruled, “women today have less freedom than their mothers did.”
Maybe thats true, IF you start your analysis from the moment you find yourself pregnant.
But what about freedom concerning the choice you made before that: The choice whether or not to have sex?
Now: i know, i know, i know—i have, here and elsewhere, ridiculed my contemporaries who are now questioning whether or not they ”really” wanted to screw so many guys back in the days of the sexual revolution. They —we— did exactly what we wanted at the time, I still maintain.
But, in light of Pelosi’s remark, I’m thinkin’: there was social pressure on us to be, ah…receptive, not ”frigid”,not ”uptight”. Those were bad, unattractive things to be.
Whereas now, it is more than just “okay” if a woman wants to resist a man’s advances. A woman can take offense at even a mild spoken compliment. She can claim rape even after she has voluntarily entered a man’s bedroom and stripped naked.
So: maybe, after the Dobbs decision, a woman has less freedom AFTER she finds herself pregnant—
but, it seems to me that she has more freedom of choice (only in terms of societal norms) concerning whether or not to engage in the reproductive act.
A-blooming-men, Hyp! And, welcome back, too!

Back to the friendly shores of Unleashedness/Unwokeness! (Hoping healing is putting out green shoots among the ashes, as well, dear friend.)

American females do not have a right to make other citizens pay for their abortions. It does seem to me that the demonic reaction to this decision is really about who pays to correct their “accidents.”

No, Simon, not this time, it isn’t a debate over payment. It’s a real culture storm, awful to witness.

Then it is about the 10th Amendment, oui?

So yes there are times when you’re right that rape can be called against people who are innocent but, and please hear me out..
What about those women who have in fact been raped, or those who are battered wives and in fear in their relationship? They were given no choice and will then be tied to their hurts and fears by that

Welcome, @wakingmuser!
I wasn’t saying nobody ever gets raped. Of course actual violent rape still happens and is terrible for the victim.
I was simply meditating on Pelosi’s remark about women’s “freedom”. She meant women now arent free AFTER they conceive, because of Dobbs. But I’m saying maybe they’re free-er BEFORE they conceive, concerning the choice as to whether or not to have sex, because of the #metoo movement and the general cultural zeitgeist.
It wasn’t fashionable to say no back in the 70s; now, it IS. Prudery is back in style!

In Sanatan Dharma (way of Indian life & not religion), killing even the smallest creature has karma attached, human life is very big. So, it is a big no-no. The dichotomy is that India gives freedom of abortion up to a time limit. Why? It is your choice to gather bad karma. Personally, I am against abortion, but it is a choice that an individual has to make.
