#335 the False Narrative is Concrete

I hesitate to wade in, as I don’t want the “C” to confuse anyone into thinking my opinion is either official or matters.

That said, some of the defenses of Simon’s recent posts are over the top. They were clearly inappropriate and I was 100% sure they were going to be pulled.

We are free to mock politicians here (I do it constantly) but there are limits to the crassness we are allowed to employ. That’s not a bug, it’s a feature.

I don’t think a ban was really the appropriate editorial response, but a post accusing a person of exchanging sex acts for drugswithout a shred of evidence is over the line. Let us not pretend otherwise.

I take it you have run that down and can state with some shreds of evidence that it is not true. Why would you say there is no evidence? There is a video that has a woman stating exactly what you say has no shred of evidence.

Are you repeating an Internet rumor here? Please provide the evidence that there is no evidence or that the evidence is faulty. You don’t get to opine ex cathedra here. Simon wanted to make the point that there are blackmail possibilities here. He should have used the term blackmail in the post’s title to move the ball down the court.

I think that such a post lacks decorum and the editors can use that criterion to remove it but they could have at least been respectful, engaged Simon in a conversation offline and helped him to make the larger point that a president with a hidden past might have some things in it that make him a subject of blackmail. Now that’s a good post.

  1. Lashon hara is the hardest sin to repent of. Just saying.
There is no evidence only suggestion (they assumed) in Huffington, and as far as I know, men get naked easily with other men, women not so much except in South Africa where I can was shocked to find many just showered named women of various unflattering proportions putting on make up while naked.
Some on my friends use cocaine regularly and they don’t grow horns. Others do. Friends that is. It only means they have too much money. Cocaine is for the richer than the rest who use cheap and nasty drugs and do unspeakable things for cheap.
I can’t imagine Obama trading sex for cocaine, but he was probably very young.
Where is your book? I dying here.
    Love, S

      1. You can do that? My auto correct drives me nuts on my phone and I can’t shut it down. I’m too dyslexic to pick it all up at first read. Press publish and I can’t un-see it. X

      2. If your user name is Sasha then I can’t unless you stop blocking invites long enough for me to slip one through.
