Can Progressives Be Swayed (Part 2)

In my attempt to enlighten a colleague concerning the joys of conservatism, have been pleased to discover that I am actually a hypocritical, conservative Christian, to name only one. Also found out that Affirmative Action was designed to help white women break through the glass ceiling; and I couldn’t really follow this one but as best as I can tell, the Civil War was fought to maintain the North’s economic supremacy over slave states. I had no idea.

Until fairly recently believed that race relations had generally improved over my lifetime and that the Great Society programs, while good intentioned, had failed the black community miserably. Apparently my belief system, whether I realize it or not, is a social contract between white men only; and according to Charles Mills’ 1997 book, The Racial Contract, there exists an almost invisible contract between white men to ensure our rights and freedoms while making possible and justifying the exploitation of non-whites. Racial contract theory probably even explains the latest diabolical conservative scheme put in play by electing and re-electing Dear Leader. Surely you must realize that because Obama is black, his hands are tied as far as directly helping the black community.

My mini-survey shows that our message of free market capitalism, freedom, and rugged individualism is not being received. Before moving to sanctuary states and initiating the second civil war, seems to me that we should make a concerted effort to put more Tea Party types in office. To do that we’ll need to get more votes from somewhere. Maybe we can still save our country if we acknowledge that many progressives actually believe that we are evil bastards, and find a way to convince them otherwise. My colleague is not a low information voter. He has his beliefs; and by God, he will not be moved. Assuming many progressives believe as he does, we are seen as having no or next to no compassion for anyone that does not look like us; and if we can’t somehow manipulate social welfare programs to our benefit, want to eliminate them.

I am convinced that we can bring some Democratic voters over to our side, but not without engaging them and slowly chipping away at their belief system. This is not work for the timid. We will not sway the progressives without strategic messaging. We really must re-evaluate the situation and develop an integrated campaign plan to address it. Our senior Republican leaders, advisers, and campaign managers are not getting the job done. Don’t expect Rush, Ann Coulter, David Horowitz, etc., to do this by themselves. We need to improve our message, and all of us need to work harder at getting it out.

  1. “I am convinced that we can bring some Democratic voters over to our side, but not without engaging them and slowly chipping away at their belief system. This is not work for the timid.”

Trump did this and is probably still doing this with more success than any other republican. Also, the more recent messages from leftists, such as the ones about “toxic masculinity” are backfiring. One reason Trump did better with Black and Hispanic men than any other republican in our lifetimes is because Black and Hispanic men do not appreciate attacks on “toxic” masculinity. I don’t think they really appreciate gender ideology either.

The leftist snake may be eating itself. Time will tell.
