  1. In the Massachusetts town I live in, the mayor is an old school democrat who is tough on crime, but every single person on the city council is woke, and every other person running for mayor is also woke. I think it’s about time for me to move South. I am afraid of the bugs down there, but what can you do?

      1. Are there fewer bugs in the mountains of North Carolina relative to the rest of the South? 🙂 Fewer snakes? Fewer lizards? Lol 🙂

I am thinking the Florida panhandle. I would love to live near the beach, and there are properties there that I could afford. But if there are fewer creepy crawlies in the mountains of North Carolina, that matters 🙂

      2. Ok, I just did some research on the mountains of North Carolina. The pictures are beautiful, but the only city of any size in that area is Asheville, which votes 60% democrat. I don’t need to live in a big city, but I do need to work, and really small towns usually don’t have that many jobs. Most importantly, I really very much do not want to live in an area run by leftists, which Asheville is.

The pictures are gorgeous, but where I live now is gorgeous too. My main goal is to avoid leftists. Moving to the Asheville area does not seem like the right way to do that. 🙂

      3. As far as I can tell, there is only one reason (besides the creepy crawlies) not to move to Florida: home owner’s insurance. Right now, I pay about 1000 a year for homeowner’s. In Florida, it would probably cost twice or three times that much, at least. And, I would have to get flood insurance on top of that. But, property taxes would probably be lower, so that might make up for some of it. But, it’s looking like Florida. I figure, there will be a lot of newcomers there, so I won’t be the only new kid on the block.

  2. Western Mass has so far managed to avoid the crime problems, thanks in large part to the mayor of Springfield, but the stories from the eastern end of the State and Boston are not good. I was talking to a cable guy who had recently moved to one of the worst neighborhoods in Springfield from a city in the east. I was about to warn him of how bad his neighborhood was, when he started raving about how wonderful it was. Where he had lived before, his kids couldn’t play outside because there were heroin needles everywhere. To him, anywhere that doesn’t have heroin needles everywhere is great.

So far, Western Mass has managed to avoid the huge homeless problems and heroin needles in the streets, but the people in charge are almost all totally woke. Give them time, and they will ruin it here just like they do everywhere else.
