NOW Was Never About Equality

Why are we here today?” she asked.
“To make revolution,” they answered.

feminists

“What kind of revolution?” she replied.
“The Cultural Revolution,” they chanted.
“And how do we make Cultural Revolution?” she demanded.
“By destroying the American family!” they answered.
“How do we destroy the family?” she came back.
“By destroying the American Patriarch,” they cried exuberantly.
“And how do we destroy the American Patriarch?” she replied.
“By taking away his power!”
“How do we do that?”
“By destroying monogamy!” they shouted.
“How can we destroy monogamy?”

Their answer left me dumbstruck, breathless, disbelieving my ears. Was I on planet earth? Who were these people?

“By promoting promiscuity, eroticism, prostitution and homosexuality!” they resounded.

They proceeded with a long discussion on how to advance these goals by establishing The National Organization of Women. It was clear they desired nothing less than the utter deconstruction of Western society. The upshot was that the only way to do this was “to invade every American institution. Everyone must be permeated with ‘The Revolution:’” The media, the educational system, universities, high schools, K-12, school boards, etc.; then, the judiciary, the legislatures, the executive branches and even the library system.

  1. I have seen evidence that the 1st wave feminists, from way back when, were basically just a bunch of man haters. I will do some research and a post on this at some point in the next week or so.

My maternal grandfather was born in the 1870’s, under the reign of Queen Victoria. He was an old Irish cop in a small town in Western Mass during the 30’s and 40’s: he spent a fair amount of time trying to convince abused women to divorce their husbands. By that point in time, it was legal for them to do so, and they had more than enough proof to stand up in court, but they never took my grandfather’s advice: they never divorced their husbands, because the stigma against divorce was so strong at that time. Most if not all these abused wives were working outside the home: their husbands often made good money, but their husbands were not bringing the money home, so the wives had to work. These women would have lost no money and might have even gained some money by divorcing their husbands, but they still refused to do it. This drove my grandfather insane: his daughters were under strict instructions to divorce any man who mistreated them.

That is the backdrop that normal people were operating from when feminism came into being: many Americans were living in a society where even a very abused woman would be socially condemned for leaving her husband. Normal people knew that this was wrong, and feminism seemed to provide an answer.

As someone who had both older parents and a much older grandfather, I know that some women really were mistreated in the old days, and society often looked the other way, but men like my grandfather are the ones who changed that: men like my grandfather were the ones who voted to give women the right to vote. Men like my grandfather encouraged women to expect decent treatment from men. Men like my grandfather are the ones who saved women.

Things were not perfect in the old days, but patriarchal men were the ones who made it better, and they receive no thanks at all from feminists, because as you point out, Simon: making things better for women was never the point of feminism. See: feminist silence about child trafficking.

  2. And another thing 🙂 : long, long before men like my Grandfather, men were standing up for women. Antigone was written 3000 years ago: King Lear was written 500 years ago. Both plays are about strong, independent, righteous women who defy evil male authority figures. Both plays were written by men. Obviously, not all men of their time viewed women the way they did, but this idea that women had no “agency” and no idea how to speak their minds or be independent until 60’s feminists came along is ridiculous.

I mean, the only reason women even know how to read is because somewhere along the line, some men decided to teach us how to read. Feminists always want to blame men for what goes wrong, but never give credit for the things done right-and in Western societies, men have treated women incredibly well. They deserve so much thanks for that, but they will never receive it from feminists.

  3. Today’s March For Life reminds me that there are hold-outs and hang-on-tight outposts in this fight. And they are younger….We’re not done.
