..that’s me
No I don’t mean I’m head ‘n’ shoulders above my peers; I mean I don’t HAVE any.
I’d say our closest peers are usually our college friends, right? They are of an age, and of a socioeconomic and educational level, with us.
Where are these women now? How do they look? Have they kept their figures? Do they dye their hair? Do they still walk without a limp or a cane? They’d be kinda a yardstick for how well I’m aging.
You may be thinking, “How shallow! Why isn’t Hypatia more concerned about their hearts, their personalities, y’know, the ‘real’ persons now ‘hidden by old age awhile/ in masker’s cloak and hood’ as Yeats put it? “
Well, because I already know about those things. They’re the reason those women broke with me in 2017. They’re a buncha narrow-minded Progs, okay?
And they’d call me a ..redneck. Isolated, provincial, pot bound because I returned to live in my childhood home.
Yeh. Fuck ‘em.
But that does mean I have nobody to talk to on that level. Well, except my BMD of course, but..you know how married life is, you don’t exactly hold a parliament every night.
….which is why I’m so grateful for my online friends, for the audio meetups, for the forum on which to write.
So thank you again, Simon, Ettes, and everyone reading this.
* ST commenting here because honey-wombat won’t let me comment in the comment section:
It seems now that the useful idiots and/or Progs have been revealed (to all with eyes to see and ears to hear) as anti-Americans, they are doubling down on their insane agenda to destroy humanity’s last best hope for capitalism & freedom (i.e. the US Constitution).
Tyranny is still very much alive and well in the 21st Century Anno Domini.

Golly Simon that picture is perfect. The table for one, but with the flag suggesting companionship lost. What is the story behind this still-life?
Answering here because of honey-wombat.
It is known as the fallen comrades table and is set for formal meals in a all branches of the service. Marines just seem to have more fallen comrades than most. The other branches call it the ‘POW/MIA or misssing man table.’

Thanks. I’ve always liked that photo but never knew what it represents.
