… at Peruvian Marine Corps Headquarters waiting to see the Commandant when I told the liaison officer about seeing the smoke come up from the Japanese Ambassador’s Residence in downtown Lima.
He tells me that he set all of the explosives for the hostage rescue.
Official story according to Japan: https://www.mofa.go.jp/policy/other/bluebook/1998/I-d.html

So I called up the commanding officer of Special Operations Training Group and asked him if he could find a house on Camp Lejeune for the colonel, Mrs. Liaison Officer, and their kids.
Funny thing is that first colonel and his wife seemed genuinely grateful for what I did for their family but oddly his eventual replacement (a mere LtCol) always seemed to have a chip on his shoulder vis-à-vis yours truly about one thing or the other.
