Me too! Started about 11 AM. By 4 enough to ski on, I did over a mile. Praying it lasts all night. We might get a “wintry mix “ overnight, though.( Pleeeese don’t let it be rain! ) I wish you joy of the storm!
Just back from a 2 mile run! I don’t know if you can be a cross-country ski “bunny”; I’d like to think of me as a cross-country ski “mountain hare”— as in Yeats’ poem “Memory”: that’s right, the bunny who makes an indelible impression…😜!
JaC, you seem to be at approximately the same latitude as mine. Are you a cross country skier?
If not, why not?
Today is perfect! We only got maybe 5 inches but that meanS you don’t have to break a trail, you can glide from the get-go!
Breaking a trail in a foot or more of snow is WORK. It’s not as exhausting as walking in deep snow, because you slide your feet instead of lifting them with every step. But you don’t get glide, the fun part, until you turn around and retrace over the track you just forged.
Oh it’s worth that work, and I try to cover all our trails when we get deep snow. The first day is strenuous but the second day is great.
I think it’s gonna be cold for a while now, so I hope what we’ve got down stays just as it is!
Are you doing anything fun with our snow?
This may sound weird, because I love winter, but I actually dont have much tolerance for the cold-when shoveling, I take breaks to warm up every 15 minutes or so, I dont mind shoveling if I can do it at my leisure, lol. Since I have started spending far more time at my Mom’s house, I pay someone to shovel, the shoveling I did today was just a little bit of cleaning up after the plow guy 🙂
Cross country skiing sounds fun, but I doubt that I could tolerate the cold for that long-I suspect that you are much tougher than i am, Hypatia 🙂

Here, too….JaC, that looks so lovely and peaceful – not at all like it sounds outside my window. Thanks for showing its softer side!

After living in Germany for 6+ years, the only snow I want to see is under the skis of my snow bunnies!
Hypatia, I am looking at you.
