Good Riddance

This morning I learned that the Don had overturned an Obama policy described as “joint employer rule.” This meant that an entire group of franchises (McDonalds for example) can be held responsible for any violations of labor law made by one individual operation. To quote the Washington Examiner:

“The Council of Economics Advisers estimates that the Obama-era rule had raised costs on one sector of business by a net $5 billion annually and reduced real incomes by $11 billion.”

Apparently BHO remained focused on eliminating minimum wage jobs and work hours for low-skilled workers. As I’m sure the Obama girls never held an entry level job in their lives, it infuriates me that Obama placed further impediments on high school and college kids trying to pay their absurd college tuition bills. I was “encouraged” at age 15 to work weekends and summer vacations at entry levels jobs: busing tables, waitressing, selling associate. (I got off lucky because my father landed my brother a job working in a tool and die factory owned by a family friend.)

So here’s what happened: My father paid all our expenses, but took our meager wages and invested them and as we got older explained the market to us. By the time I got married, I had my portion of a 35% down payment which alleviated a huge mortgage payment.

Entry level jobs are not meant to provide living wages for a family of four, but are certainly beneficial to young kids looking to make their way in the world. I resent that our previous president attempted to take away this opportunity.

  1. Here is the thing Liz. Although ignorant, Obama is not stupid. The question is, what was he trying to accomplish? He was getting rid of those jobs to ‘stress the system.’ He did not care a rat’s patootie about the immediate impact it had on ‘his people,’ as AG Holder called them.

Why do we not know where he was during Benghazi? Obama’s career was made by illegally opening court sealed documents, yet his college and other records remain sealed. Why was the MSM completely uninterested in his background as opposed to the constant search for manufactured dirt on President Trump?

I am not expecting answers, just typing to keep from crying.

Were you listening in on my latest conversations with my husband?

We both think you are correct; Obama is not stupid or naive or even ignorant. He had an agenda and at the risk of sounding like a wack conspiracist, he has an anti-American, anti-capitalist agenda.

    Two things:
    1. William Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn were his first supporters when he ran for the Illinois state senate. I believe in “guilt by association.” Those two as founders of the Weather Underground were American terrorists.

    2. His father was a bona fide Communist who died drunk in a ditch long after he abandoned his son, but somehow, Obama writes a book entitled “Dreams of My Father” with no mention whatsoever of his Caucasian Midwestern grandparents who raised him because both of his parents deserted him.

Sound familiar? I can’t help but think of Billy Bob Clinton whose biological father died from a DUI as well. What the hell is up with the Democrat party?

I’d mention the Kennedys but that would require a post of its own.

    1. In addition, ET, I suspect that the brilliant Dinesh D’Souza is onto something with Obama being an “anti-colonial.” Why Obama thinks the US needs to pay for the sins of the European colonial powers while giving Islamic colonists (Ottoman empire for example) a complete pass, is yet another mystery to me.

My guess is that Obama is neither well educated nor is logical reasoning his strong suit.

      1. I love Dinesh because he had the good taste to date Laura Ingraham at Dartmouth 🙂 but he is spot-on about colonial resentment even though we had nothing to do with this. We were, in fact, a colonial outpost ourselves that rebelled!

D’Souza did mention as an Indian national that colonial rule did more for his homeland re: sanitary conditions, education, business acumen and most importantly of all, the elimination of that barbaric tradition of sati.

I will circle back later to talk some more about this most excellent point.
