No, not the language but a few ‘essential’ words for the polite tourist (or restaurant dining-in diner) to deploy.

‘Essential words’ are like bridges between people, though; signs that you acknowledge them. Maybe a way in to experiences you might not have otherwise – like the New Year festival, or a family meal, maybe. You never know.

I may have been the only paying customer in the park that day. There are now no foreign tourists in Thailand at all.

Well, commie pinko leftists are acting deaf, dumb and blind about it. Polls show that most Americans want China to pay for what they have done.
The gentleman who brings communion to my mother every Sunday mentioned this to me recently, without any prompting from me. He and I were talking about Covid. Out of the blue, he told me that there wasn’t much that he liked about Trump, but he totally supported Trump when he called Covid the Chinese virus. “Trump is right”, the man said to me, “It is the Chinese virus.”
