Ciao Bela(rus)!

Do you wonder what’s gonna happen after Nov. 3?
In August 2020 Lukashenko was re-elected President of Belarus.
The several minority candidates immediately challenged the result.
Search Belarus this morning. Mobs everywhere, throwing rocks and whatever else they can get, demanding that he leave office or “negotiate” with the losers.
BTW he was re-elected with 80% of the popular vote, so that puts paid to the notion that a landslide victory guarantees civil order.
I’m no expert on Belarusian internal affairs, so, not really expressing an opinion as to whether this election was In fact fraudulent. Mebbe. I would just point out that Lukashenko has already served quite a few terms, and people often vote for the devil they know.
It seems very unlikely, maybe even impossible, that we will know the results of our election by the wee hours of Nov 4. And the Left has its armies on standby. Days, even weeks of mob violence are virtually certain to ensue. If Trump wins but it’s close, or if he wins the Electoral College but not the popular vote, will we see the Left brazenly demanding that he “negotiate” about executive power in his second term? Or will he, like Mubarak, and as seems likely for Lukashenko, also elected leaders, be forced to “step down”?

The simple and heretofore unquestioned maxim about the US has always been that elections settle things till the next time. “Elections have consequences”. That is supposed to mean, and always has meant, consequences in terms of foreign and domestic policy. The consequences of this election seem on track to be mayhem and disorder.

Waking up on Nov 4, your humble American correspondent is very, very skeert we’ll be saying : Bonjour Tristesse! And Ciao, Belarus .

  1. To add insult to injury, the MSM was showing videos of Texans voting early in record numbers. Of course they accredited this in Biden’s favor as in “Get Trump outta there!” Know who I’m dealing with but let’s just say I didn’t need to watch this!

Had yet another disturbing conversation with my high school prom date who is an investment banker living in London and I had to listen to how he and his buddies (who apparently run with the Big Dogs) and know Trump describe him as a phony, an incompetent and a shyster.

I had to hang up the phone in his face and for once, did not feel ashamed for exercising excretable manners.

    1. The day after the election 2016, I was at the Munich Airport, and some Brit, obviously a member of the international banking set, was talking loudly on his cell phone about how appalling Trumps win was. “Teddible! A disAHstuh!” He sneered, raining his voice for my benefit—I guess he had noticed that we were Americans AND that I had flashed him an insanely joyous grin when he mentioned the election. Hee Hee! Stuff it, Limey, we’ve got a real American as President at last! Does 1776 ring a bell, you supercilious subject? Eat our dust!

  2. I’m’na go see Trump at Avoca Airport tomorrow! Ever since 2016 I’ve been saying I just sometime want to be in the same room (or in this case, hangar) with him because he MUST be the most charismatic man EVER, to have done what he did! This may, tho I pray not, be my last chance to see him as President. God I love this guy! Please God defend the right!

  3. I would be busy improving my fighting positions if I were posted in the land of the free and home of the brave.

What happened to the ‘Don’t Tread on Me’ flags? They became an oxymoron after 9/11 and we were herded like cattle through the airports we paid for with our tax dollars.

The Left will go ‘full chimp’ if President Trump is re-elected.

    1. Re the Gadsden flag: I have one hanging on my front door!
Full chimp or full chump? That’s what Biden called the Trump supporters who have vastly outnumbered his own partisans at his last few stops. Chumps for Trump!!

      1. The Left will go full chimp. Yes, Biden thinks we are all chumps and/or idiots. Why wouldn’t he? We have let him and his ilk get away with murder (literally) for generations.

    1. You mean about Belarus? Yeah, Reuter’s just had a side piece about it this AM; it hasn’t been front page news. But see, ONCE YOU STOP ACCEPTING THE RESULTS OF AN ELECTION: (1) you no.longer have a democracy; and—(2) ANYTHING can happen. The world, till now, has believed our country is stable, a safe place to invest their money. We’re about to lose that blessed confidence, which undergirds our prosperity.

      1. Exactly. That title isn’t anything official, it just means the world had faith in the stability of the dollar. If Nov 3 et seq. goes the way I fear, the US is no better than…well, than Belarus.

      2. It is like watching a bunch of kindergarteners destroy a school. Where were the foxtrotting adults in the room? Final answer: Staring at their shoes while waiting for the parents to arrive.

    1. He’ll be ok no matter what, we won’t see him sniveling or complaining if things don’t work out. And if it’s obvious that there has been trickery and fraud in the vote counting, he won’t get mad, he’ll get even!

  4. Yes, Hypatia. I fear we have seen our last peaceful transition of power from Progs to Sane. Actually, a bloodless coupe has been waged for 4+ years while the American people sat on their foxtrotting hands and did nothing.

    1. Well…what could we have done, really? I’m afraid we tended to feel,we had right and truth on our side, and the system would work, eventually. It did, with the mueller investigation and with impeachment. I reckon we just hoped at every new turn that the Left would be chagrined by its defeat.and kinda settle down. But then along came Covid…..

      1. I mentioned here or somewhere that a uni-student protest should have broken out from sea to shining sea in reaction to the FBI witch hunt of our President.

      2. Um….I don’t know what American students you’ve been talking to, but outrage over the witch hunt wasn’t exactly their cause célebre. Rather the reverse….

These millennials are not 60’s radicals, not even in the ballpark. It seems that no one really cares anymore just how corrupt our politicians are as long as the ‘war machine’ keeps churning out profits and gimmees.

    1. Oh no question. In fact I think Trump is why they loosed the plague. He was unstoppable:de-Balkanizing the Balkans, delivering peace in the Middle East with no bloodshed! He had survived TWO Huge, well-funded internal attacks, Mueller and impeachment. Back in Early February he was positioned for sure victory.

And then along came the Sinos’ Infection.
