This style was something I never quite found a way into; maybe I had enough of my own โshtuffโ to carry back then – and didnโt need reminding. Hope Mr. Cobain is at peace…..
I kind of agree with Nanda; I wasn’t a huge fan of the Grunge genre either but have to admit the song “Smells Like Teen Spirit” was awesome. The one you’ve featured here is pretty good though but I have no Cobain in my CD collection.
They were certainly talented but I regret Cobain went south with drug addiction and depression. A loss indeed, but that list is long: Hendrix, Joplin, Morrison, Brian Jones, Scott Stapp (alive but barely) and almost Keith Richards. Wish all of these musicians had a Mick Jagger who saved his bass player’s life with this challenge:
“Do you want to do drugs or play music? Your choice.”
Sometimes music fails to save people who have had abusive childhoods or anaffective parents. Kurt was harassed by his uncle. The use of drugs in such a heavy way was used to endure the pain but when the internal pain is too strong you can no longer resist. I also made music, I played in London, I met many people but sometimes music is not enough. I was abused as a child, I was only 4 years old and even if I drew, wrote, played and sang, all these things did not cancel the death I received at 4 years old. I survived the pain but we are not all the same. Some are more sensitive, more fragile, they don’t recover from the pain of the past. ๐
Totally understand your thoughts FQ re: Cobain but others used drugs recreationally. I guess I’m just angry that we lost them all too soon and there is nobody to replace their unique talents.
Forgive me for sounding so grisly on a music post, but your remarks further engrain my belief child molesters deserve the death penalty. Glad to hear you survived your experiences and hope to read more from you.

P.S. I could always use a fellow music- lover on this site and hopefully one who can keep me up on the “undiscovered.”
P.S.S. I like everything but opera. ๐

Drugs (to include nicotine) and alcohol have brought many a good man to his knees. As they say, “…and God I know, I’m one.”

Don’t be; I’m just a typical Boomer who thought that music was everything. Still do!

Suggestion: Let’s do “House of the Rising Sun” next. ๐
P.S. I have Eric Burdon’s autograph after my older cousin dragged me to a concert in 1966.
