Funny little article in NR this week about a Republican political movement in the mid 19th century that was comprised of young abolitionists and supporters of Abraham Lincoln.
They thought the future belonged to them, not the tired and corrupt figures of the previous quarter century—during which no President survived more than one term. Mechanics, clerks, other wage laborers, and farmers predominated in the Wide Awakes.
Sound like anyone we know? Please bring them (and Him) back!
Hoping this bit of history rhymes, too.

I’m trying to control my fury that the Democrat Socialist party would attempt to imitate and piggyback on an impressive GOP movement and completely distort its values.
The Dems are lucky that nobody reads history anymore!

Hope you noticed I capitalized “Him.” Always will because The Don represents the best of America.

Do I recall correctly that the Republicans were founded with the goal of ending slavery?

Interesting how so many people choose to ignore this fact.

Yes, indeed, it is….Quite convenient for some, it seems.

We have made it legal to treat the white, Christian male with prejudice, especially Republicans and/or Conservatives.
Racism by the law of the land and affirmed by SCOTUS, and yet another reason to hate Sandra Day O’Conner.

Is it just another coincidence of the suddenly appearing OP on L!’s front page today about the Wide-Awake Club?
