I definitely recall Afghanistan was āthe good warāā¦.Thinking of those experiencing shock, anger, and grief for many reasons today. (I wonder if any of the planners, two decades ago had read Hopkirkās: āThe Great Gameā or āSetting the East Ablazeā?)

I’m glad; because it certainly seems like that part of the world chews up and spits out those who have plans for it. I’m holding all the vets and Gold Star (Purple Star, too) families from this war in prayer lately.

Here is my brutal analysis: Afghanistan was, is and will always be a hopeless disaster. I want no more American blood and treasure lost in that hellhole, Taliban or not!

On a lighter note, I listened to Tears throughout the mid-80s and was disappointed they were a ‘one album wonder.’
