Reinforcing my Point

Last night I was listening to my new favorite Fox commentator Dan Bongino remark on the debacle going on in Afghanistan. I have to paraphrase him but here’s the gist of what he said:

“Folks, the reality is that 300,000 Afghani soldiers have had the good fortune to be trained by the greatest military in the world for 20 years and couldn’t ‘hold the fort.’ We can’t stay there forever but because there was no feasible exit plan made by the Biden administration, once again, more Americans will die over there. “

Then he really raised my eyebrows when he said:

“My first, last and only priority is rescuing the 10,000 U.S. citizens over there. Nobody wants to see harm done to those who aided us, but let me turn around that sentence a bit. WE were aiding them and trying to help them help themselves. “

I thought he made some excellent points. As soon as we get our Americans home, I want nothing to do with that country ever again except to keep our eye on the Taliban for reasons of self-defense and pressure other nations in that region to get involved. A powerful Taliban cannot be safe for the Saudis or the UAE either.

BTW, Dan mentioned that about one million Marines have volunteered to take an additional tour of duty to rescue their fellow citizens and are vehemently assuring their success. Of course they can accomplish this mission! Biden has the military might to do so but he doesn’t have the will. Why?

In the meantime, even I’m praying for Taiwan, some of the Pacific Islands and South Korea now that the cat is out of the bag: The Leader of the Free World is a coward.

  1. Jeanine Pirro made an even more heartbreaking point last night.
Y’know those stories we’re hearing now, about French paratroopers and British and Australian operatives getting THEIR nationals out?
She said, Joe, why are those other nationals in that shithole? They went there for US, for America, because GW Bush and his successors demanded a “coalition” after 9/11.
And we don’t even bother to tell them, our allies, that we’re leaving before securing the territory militarily?

You talk about the US “Pressur[ing] other nations in that region to get involved”.
Pressure? You gotta have strength, or at least leverage, to exert pressure.

We ain’t got neither of those things no more, thanks to Ol’White Joe….

  2. I watched Pirro as well and the video from Parliament. They’re disgusted, appalled and were very emotional. Normally I give little credence to the Euros because they’re always complaining about the U.S. but this time, I have to agree.

I still don’t think it’s too late because of the potential ramifications this debacle could have on other nations in the region. The Saudis have to know the Taliban won’t be satisfied with merely this win.

Besides, now that Biden has shut down the pipeline and most forms of energy independence, maybe economics will save the day; we’ve become, yet again, the Saudi’s biggest customer.

    Argghh!!
