I’ll take this opportunity to laud Paul Simon’s remarkable songwriting skills and musical knowledge but he surely underrated AG’s poignant and sensitive rendition of those songs. In fact, I always associated as a kid all my S&G albums with Art. He brought them to life.
Paul Simon went on to huge commercial fame after he dumped AG but I never related to his music in quite the same way. Audiences don’t always see the intense songwriting/recording that goes on behind the scenes; they see and hear the singer only. I think you need both.
