…Blame it on the Pill, by Guy Shepherd on American Greatness this morning. (Especially you, Judy!) Idk how to link, sorry. but this article says that because the pill tricks women’s bodies into thinking they are already pregnant, women no longer follow the cues they otherwise would in deciding with whom to copulate. So they prefer a ”mangina”.
And btw, this is the first time ive encountered that so-perfect sobriquet, amd it wouldve been worth reading the article just for that, the mot juste for men I’ve encountered who will actually and without irony look me in the face and gently insist they know as much as or more than, about being a woman, as I do.
S.T.F.U.!!!!! Ettes, is there anything more infuriating?

furthermore, this has been going on for like 60 years now, so i think even young women who arent and never have been on the pill—and unfortunately quite a few men—are enculturated to the mangina preference or identity.

‘Splains sooo much: our falling birthrate, men’s general wimpyness—and the fact that getting a date is now a process more akin to applying to college than to checkin’ out a mate.

Whaddya think?

  1. Thank you for this, Hypatia. Tampering with Mother Nature is never a good idea! I have never understood how so many women can just blithely ingest hormones like it’s nothing. Besides the problems your article suggests, I really wonder if the pill is one of the reasons why so many Americans struggle with weight? From high school on, it seemed as though the girls I knew went on the pill and then all started to gain weight-what is the point of a birth control method that makes it so that no one will want to sleep with you anyway?

    So yeah, I agree: there is nothing good about the pill. There are other ways to prevent pregnancy, no one in their right mind should be tampering with their body chemistry.

      1. Lol 🙂 Not a good idea, I don’t think. So many mushrooms are poisonous! Although, I must confess, I tried magic mushrooms once in college. Saw some things dancing on the ceiling, but it was really not a big deal. Never did it again. 🙂

      18. It’s funny, I like getting and being drunk, but I’d be skeert to death to try any of the stuff Simon has been pushing in this comment thread, let alone toad venom. I reckon it’s just the unpredictability of the effect of those substances, whereas I know what booze will do, good and bad.

      19. I am horribly addicted to nicotine and coca cola, but other than that, mind altering substances have never held much appeal for me. Alcohol just puts me to sleep. I tried pot several times, and disliked it. Tried mushrooms once, didn’t like that much either. And that is it. The only drug that ever sounded good to me was cocaine, and I never went anywhere near it, because I was afraid that I would like it too much.

      20. You’re right. I can’t recall the book I read, but kids were sucking on toads that emit a defensive toxin that apparently brings on a high. I think I’d rather shoot a needle in my arm. ):

        As for the pill, I concur but never had the chance to use it even if I wanted to. I was a light smoker for many years and my ob/gyn would not prescribe it for me. Girlfriends who were on it complained of weight gain and bloat. And thus brings me to my next topic:

        Parents who are giving XY children puberty blockers and loads of estrogen at a young age are exposing them to high risks of cancer. My mother went into menopause at a very young age so was prescribed high doses of estrogen and it resulted in breast cancer.

        As the old commercial from the 60s expressed: “It’s not nice to fool with Mother Nature.” Dangerous too!

    1. But dear Simon, come to think of it, how do your many Thai lassies prevent you from siring a multitude? Do they take the pill or do they have some mysterious Oriental remedy against conception ? Because I gather they don’t prefer the mangina—or they wouldn’t be hangin’ with you!

    I can relate. Back at the old site I would encounter people (non-Hispanic, from places with little to no Hispanic populations) who unironically insisted they knew more about being Hispanic that I did, even though I have been such for the entirely of my life.

    Maybe I’ll go re-watch some old episodes of Northern Exposure and then tell some native Alaskans that I know more about their state than they do.

      1. I’ve never been to Chile. The farthest into Latin America I’ve ever gone is Chihuahua City. I remembered that saying above from a Spanish literature class I took in high school. I forget where specifically it came from, though.
