..today, since my father died.
This is really depressing, when your parents have been dead that long already.
He was a big man, a large presence, unfailingly kind, a doctor, a lay minister, a philanthropist, handsome, splendid.
Readers, I wish you could have known him. Everyone who did was happier for the experience.
Memoro.
You have honored him so beautifully, Hypatia! I think this is the single greatest piece you have ever written, and everything you write is great.
I wish that I could have known your Dad too. I wish that you could have known mine.

That everyone could have had such a father in this life. Your description describes my step father. I didn’t really know my biological father.

Fathers are fundamental as well as yet another nearly extinct species in America the (once) beautiful.
Save the Padres!

RIP, we do know him, Hyp, particularly from your responses to various posts of mine here – and are the richer for it. Hugs!
