There is a pear tree in my yard; it grows up and up and up but never out. Very strange 🙂

You may want to ‘top’ it. Crazy Tim (Costa Rica) used to top his citrus trees to make them grow out and not up. If it was good enough for him…

One of the unintended consequences of topping is you are a lot less likely to break your neck if you fall out of the tree will harvesting its fruit.
